  1. Congrautlations, I remember that wonderful feeling when our case was complete. Next step, make sure you review the checklis/email from NVC, have all of your documents in order for the interview (copies of emails, chats, evidence, photos and copies of marriage certificate, affidivit of support, birth certificate and other things you may you sent to NVC ---just in case they ask for it, even though they have it),and the medical exam completed before your interview date.

We have our interview tomorrow morning. I was not able to go to Nija to be there with my husband so I sent my husband all the documents along with a photo album so he could put our pictures in it as well. I sent him a tie I bought just for his interview day.

  2. DWheels, girl I have been following you through this process. I cant wait to hear CASE COMPLETE for you, then we all can do our praise dance.

RosyG,I agree with you about this website. It has been wonderful being able to converse with people who are in the similar situation as I am, and willing to hold my hand as I go through this process. Having friends who completely understand this process, both the disappointments and victories is a wonderful feeling.

  3. From my experience thus far I have learned its always a good idea to call NVC and check on your case. You often find out the status before they contact you or send an email. The operator may ask when did you send youer DS230 and then tell you it takes 20 business days for them to review everything. But I have learned its less than 20 days from them receiving everything to case complete. After your case is complete then NVC says interviews are scchedule during the first two weeks of every month. I think it would be a good idea to call on Monday and check on your case. By the way even though you know they have recieved the operator may say that they are still waiting for it. Do not be alarmed. Your paperwork is there just that the information has not been entered in the system yet to complete your case. Best advise is to keep calling and ask what the next step it and case status. Hope this helps. Good luck

  4. Dwheel its been a long journey for you my dear. I know that all things are possible. I better than anyone knows its possible to get case closed and interview date in a matter of a couple days. I prayer that you and your husband for a speedy case complete without anymore delays and an interview date sooner than you expect. Favour!!!

  5. No this is not true. I would call again this week. It does take a few days to transfer your paperwork to NVC for "processing" after its left USCIS. But they should be able to tell you the case number soon. Sometimes its seems like they try to find out how much you know or have before they tell you anything. Sometimes its all in asking the "right" question or getting the right operator with common sense and a good attitude. Good luck.

  6. It may be a good idea to call the NVC if at all possible to find out if they have received your I-864 and if it has been entered in the system. Keep in mind that Thursday was a holiday and the NVC was closed. It only took 5 days from the daye our I-864 was delivered for the fee bill for DS-230 to be generated. To submit your forms with this application your case barcode cover sheet is also needed that is generated from the fee bill receipt page. To the best of my knowledge you will need a police clearance from Lagos since you have lived there for five years. NVC needs police clearance from everywhere you have lived since the age of 16. I hope this helps.

  7. NVC is requesting RFE for my husbands original birth certificate in which I thought I sent. I submitted the original birth attestation letter from the National Population Commission. Is this not that same thing as his birth certificate? If not where does he need to go to get the birth ceritifcate, how does it look, and how long does it take for him to get it done? Thanks in advance for the information.

  8. I also had the same question when I submitted my husbands police record to NVC. I was told that even though the police records expires in three months that it is still valid as long as the police records was submitted to NVC before the expiration date and that another police record will not be needed for the interview.hope this helps
