  1. As per US Department of State..

Important Notice - New Application Fees: Nonimmigrant and immigrant visa application fees will change on April 13, 2012. The fees for most nonimmigrant visa applications and Border Crossing Cards will increase, while all immigrant visa application fees will decrease. All visa applicants must pay the fee amounts in effect on the day they pay, including immigrant visa applicants who pay fees to the National Visa Center (NVC).

Fees that will decrease are not refundable - If you paid a visa fee before April 13, 2012 and that fee decreased, we cannot give you a refund.

Fees that will increase (only nonimmigrant fees) - If you paid your visa fee before April 13, 2012, you do not have to pay the difference between the new and old fee amounts as long as your visa interview is on or before July 12, 2012. Starting July 13, 2012, you will be required to pay the difference between the old and new fee amounts – no exceptions.

  2. Department of State has just reduced visa application fees for K1 and CR1 visas.

Currently when applying for a K1 or CR1 Visa there are two rounds of fee payments. First when applying to USCIS a petitioner pays $340 when filing the I-129F (Fiancee Visa Petition) or a $420 when filing the I-130 (Spousal Visa Petition).

Once USCIS has completed their portion of the review of your case, the State Department steps in and they charge a second round of fees. For a K1 the fee payable just before the consular interview was $350. It has now been reduced to $240.

For a CR1 visa the fee charged by the NVC (State Department's National Visa Center) the fee has been reduced from $404 to only $230.

For the State Departments New Fees see

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1263.html

The small print of this change is 'Department of State can do this because they now can bill other government departments for their share of costs'. This probably means that USCIS will be getting the bill. It won't be surprizing if this eventually causes USCIS to increase their upfront fees to compensate.

  3. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) directs customers who have questions about

immigration services and benefits, or who wish to inquire about a specific case, to call the agency’s

National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283.

What Can the NCSC Do for Me?

The NCSC operates on a two-tier model.

Tier 1 Customer Service Representatives (CSRs):

    Can:

    • Relay basic immigration information to customers through scripts provided by USCIS
    • Answer questions about USCIS forms
    • Transfer calls to Tier 2 in certain circumstances

    Cannot:

    • Answer specific questions about a case with the exception of information available through Case Status Online
    • Transfer calls to local offices or service centers where cases are pending
    • Provide legal advice

Tier 2 Immigration Service Officers (ISOs):

    Can:

    • Review USCIS systems on your case
    • Request that notices be re-issued
    • Provide information that you may receive at an Infopass appointment
    • Provide specialized assistance to dependents or active members of the U.S. Armed Forces
    • Provide information on pending and adjudicated cases.

    Cannot:

    • Review already issued Requests for Evidence (RFEs)
    • Directly issue duplicate notices, receipt notices, RFE notices
    • Transfer calls to local offices or service centers
    • Provide legal advice

How to Prepare for My NCSC Call?

    • Gather as much information on your case as possible
    • Check the status of your case online
    • Determine what, if any, processing times apply to your case type
    • Check your priority date, if applicable
    • Have available all applicable receipt numbers
    • Have your Alien Registration number (“A” number), if applicable
    • Have all relevant correspondence with USCIS

What to Do During My Call?

    • Record the date and time of the call
    • Request the name and/or ID number of NCSC staff
    • Note the service request referral number, if applicable

    Service Requests

Both Tiers 1 and 2 can create a “service request” which is sent to service centers and local offices

on matters such as expedite requests, change of address, appointment rescheduling, case processing

delays which exceed the posted times, and other matters that may be unique to a specific case.

    Inquiries for Field Office Matters

If USCIS has not responded to your initial service request within 30 days, call the NCSC.

Please have the initial service request referral number with you when you call.

    Inquiries for Service Center Matters

If USCIS has not responded to your initial service request within 30 days, please email the service

center that has jurisdiction over your case. Your follow-up should be addressed only to the service

center which issued your receipt and is identified on the Form I-797 (Notice of Action).

    • California Service Center: csc-ncsc-followup@dhs.gov
    • Nebraska Service Center: ncscfollowup.nsc@dhs.gov
    • Texas Service Center: tsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov
    • Vermont Service Center: vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

If you do not receive a response within 21 days of contacting the service center, you may email

the USCIS Headquarters Office of Service Center Operations at: SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov and should

receive a response in 10 days.

    How Can the Ombudsman Help?

If you have tried these regular USCIS avenues and have not received the information you seek,

please submit DHS Form 7001 to the Ombudsman. We will look into your case and review how we may be of assistance.

If you have a comment about the NCSC or the above USCIS customer service process,

please send the Ombudsman an email at cisombudsman@dhs.gov. Please note that the

Ombudsman can request that USCIS review an NCSC call to further understand your inquiry,

if you called the NCSC within the last 90 days. It is also helpful to have the date and

time of the call, the phone number you used to make the call, as well as the ID number

of the customer service representative or the officer’s name with whom you spoke.

For all other inquiries, please submit DHS Form 7001 to our office.

For the Ombudsman’s review of the NCSC process, read the most recent Annual Report.

  4. Passport Errors & Amendments

    7. Errors

If there is an error in the data on my current passport, can I get it corrected?

If there is any error that needs to be corrected in your current passport, inform our personnel on duty of the error, present your original NSO certified Birth Certificate and submit a copy with your passport application.

  6. My intended is in Hong Kong. I e-mailed her the G525 form. Should she sign it and mail it back or can she just fill it out and e-mail back to me?

Sign and date with black ink in the box that reads: “Signature of Applicant.” Use your usual signature.

Original signature is required on each page. If you make a mistake, print a new page and sign again. DO NOT USE WHITE-OUT.

  8. if u r getting this msg then offcourse its already approved. did u get any approval letter in the mail the hard copy saying that petition already approved?

is it already been forwarded to NVC ?

did u get the case number or not?

I don't have chance to talk to her about the petition (occupied in her work as a medical scientist),

her husband got a package and sent it to my sister, and she didn’t have it yet, when she got it, for sure we will

talk about what would be the next thing to do.

That I-130 approval is for my sister, mine is I-129F. She waited around 5 years, I hope I get mine in 5 months

  9. I am on K1. I am searching and reading about I-130 for my sister who is also having applied for I-130 way back NOVEMBER 15, 2006.

I was the one who kept on checking their case online, actually she almost don’t believe me when I told her that I THINK her petition was approved (I am not sure though), lol. For real, it is a long journey.

I believe we will be able to get through the whole process soon. Practice patience, patience and more patience.

Here is what I got online (for my sis’ case).

    Post Decision Activity

Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283
