  1. I just got back from Hanoi the 30th. We had our "Wedding" there. We then went on to the Honeymoon in Nha Trang. Don't recommend Nha Trang Lodge hotel for your stay...they claim it is a 4 star but I found the stains on the carpet and having to inform the desk to get our room clean everyday a bother. There were approx 250 people at our wedding. It was such a wonder time for us. I hated to leave her there. We both miss one another deeply. It is not comforting to come back and find out that all the others that are around the same timeline have not gotten an interview date either. Any word at the consulate?

    Happy New Year folks!!!

Did you have a chat with the Ambassador about your proposed reforming the Immigration Unit? I hope it went well!!!

  2. The letter arrived yesterday (12/26/06) with the famous 10 year GC, one thing that I noticed is that in the new card they did not include her maidden name as in the temporary card. The 2 year card included her 1st name+middle name+maidden name+my last name.

When I sent all the documents with the I-751 form, the main bulk of them had her 1st, middle and my last name (bank statement, tax returns, car title, etc.) and the I-751 had the same info as the temporary card, now the new card don"t have her maidden name, go figure.

The countdown continues, 12 months until we file the N-400 .........

    George&Martha

Could you tell us what you've included with your package?

  3. Here is the timeline for the ones who are still waiting.

    1) Sept. 9th 2006 I-751 and paperwork sent to CSC.

    2) Sept. 12th USCIS received application.

    3) Sept. 29th received I-797 extending GC for 1 year and another one for biometrics appointment.

    4) Oct. 12th went to biometrics appointment.

    5) Oct. 13th online system was updated/I guess after biometrics/no status changed.

    6) Dec. 29th online system was updated/ no status change.

    7) Dec. 31st online system was updated with messgae that the card production was ordered.

    8) Jan. 4th online system was updated with message that the approval notice was sent.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences on this forum. Good luck to everybody with you immigration journey.

Could you tell us what you've included in your package? Did you write one check or two checks?

    Thanks

  4. if it wasn't for the north vietnamese communists invaded South Vietnam, most of the vietnamese in So-Cal and everywhere else in America, wouldn't even be here. if it wasn't for the NVC (north vietnamese communist), and the NVC (national visa center), again :D none of the Visa Journey folks are here in America! They wouldn't even have the life style that most vietnameses are enjoying every day, gaining the respect from his fellow vietnameses back home in Vietnam every time they return to visit. So, looking back, most southerners better thanks them!

Your wife Lurker or anyone's fiancee who are about to arrive in this country, take this attitude: I'm happy where my husband is, and where we are together! You'll be just fine! America is a greatest country on earth, like it or not, 99% of the people want to move here, not there!

I agree with you, Chuck. We also need to thank the NVC for exporting thousand of Vietnamese women & children to Taiwan, Cambodia, and Singarpore to work in brothels.

Anything else that you want to thank them, Chuck???

    Check this out, Chuck,

  6. Maybe we are impatient, but she called consulate in HCMC and ask them if they can send the packet via currier, but they said they can have her cousin in HCMC get it for her, and then her cousin can send it to Hanoi. YAY!!!

Well, turns out that the consulate lied (No surprise there) that they mailed out the packet 3 11/23. Em got the packet today and it was post marked 11/02. Doesn't matter anyways because she already submitted the packet 3 paperwork already and sent it via dhl.

Just confirms that the staff at HCMC consulate are lacking in quality service. However, this has been noted and entered into my log as more evidence and such to submit to the consular general when I get there in HCMC and make an appointment with him.

I am also going to find a way to make an appointment with the ambassador there in Hanoi as well.

I am not one to sit idle by and let things just be broken. I want to help fix this ####### that occurs here for future fellow VJers.

President Bush is there now. Why don't you call him and complain directly?? Is it better than seeing the ambassador? one advice for you, be nice to those people; otherwise your file might end up in the trash can!!!

Condoleeza Rice is being there too. They are heading to Saigon when I'm writing this.

If I were to call, to be more direct I would rather call her as she's the DOS head. And also I would call her because it is said that she is smarter than Bush. Besides, she's an accomplished musician, so she must have a very well-trained ear.

Let's try to write a farce inspired from a pop hit in the 60's called "Love Potion Number 9" by The Searchers, to welcome her to Saigon:

I took my troubles down to Madame Rice

You know your consulate where you're visiting wide

She looked at my file and she made a magic sign

She said "what we need is an overhaul overnight"

    Hey Myle,

long time no talk; how is your case?
