  1. I am very happy for you about the baby, and sorry to hear about the father.

It seems to me, boy's father was just not ready to be a father.

Since he entered UK on student visa, it's not like it's easy to simply pack up and go back to original country. It seems he is happy where he is now.

Financially, father should support the baby. Maybe father will realize that he may still want to be part of boy's life.

  2. When I first read your story, I was wondering if it was in detroit, and I found it was in Detroit. That makes sense. I've been through this and I know the pain. They treated me exactly the same as how they did to your husband. No dignity. They laughed at you, they searched everything, went through my credit cards one by one, counted my money one by one, took everything they can find. They questioned me more than 5 hours and sent me back. Before this, I've been to US many times, POE at New York, New Jersey, Chicago, LA etc, never had experience like this. When I was using my B1/B2, every time I received 6 month stay on my I-94. I had no idea about US immigration law and I presumed that for tourist, you get 6 month every time you enter US. So when I landed in Detroit, the officer said he would give me 45 days this time and ASKED me if it was enough time? I had no idea that he actually digged a hole, I just honestly replied that "isn't is 6 month? everytime I came to US, the other officers gave me 6 month", he then followed his question"so you want to stay here for 6 month?", I said"no, I don't need that much time, I just think you will give me 6 month", he sent me to secondary. And the nightmare happened. I don't want to recall, but they did treat you like a criminal. They don't have consistent rules, if you have a "mercy" officer, he may allow you to call your employer, your friend etc. Other officers may not. The one who interviewed me, he first allowed me to make a call, then a guy looked like his supervisor refused me to do so.

Anyway, I was escorted by another officer to the plane, it was also Delta. This officer told me they actually have quota--how many people should be sent back everyday. I like this country, I think it stands for freedom, for rights, for your voice to be heard. But as an alien, we have nothing. No respect.

After secondary where you able to change 45 days to longer?

B1/B2 does not guarantee 6 months. It varies from 3 to 6 months as recorded by the Customers at the port of entry. Officer normally ask you what is your purpose of your visit? and depending on the answer they can grant up to 6 months or not..

B-1 visa is usually granted for 3 months or less and while B-2 visa is generally for 6 months.

  3. "U.S. Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR's) who travel directly between parts of the United States, which includes Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), without touching at a foreign port or place, are not required to present a valid U.S. Passport or U.S. Green Card"

Let's say that on your way to Guam or Puerto Rico and your plane experienced unexpected landing due to a mechanical issue at a foreign land. To come back to the USA, don't you need to have a passport.

I think if you must not go, then I would wait for AP before departing..

  4. Hello all,

I just wanted to share a great news and let those who are waiting some hope.

Our case was filed 10/25/2011 and it was finally approved after a year.

NO RFE, and NO interview. I am still not clear why my case too so long.

As many ppl here have advised.. if your case is out the processing windows, I strongly advice you to ask your US congress(man/woman) to look into your case as I did with my case.

I believe this has helped in my case.

  5. I received a letter, response from CSC in regard to service request that I opened here at Atlanta office.

    It says

"Your case is currently being adjudicated. You should receive a notice of action within 45 days.

A notice of action may be in a form of Approval Notice, Denial Notice, Transfer Notice, Request for Evidence, Notice of Intent to Deny or Notice of Intent to Revoke"

In the mean time, I spoke to rep from senior US Senator Saxy Chambliss to look into my case. I am hopeful for a faster response.

  6. I think many of ppl here who are waiting for AOS received their green card before having to renewal EAD. Unfortunately, for us, we are having to renewal our EAD. I couldn't find this answer question either on the forum.

I ended up putting in Chicago office and I am sending to Chicago office because wife's case start with MSC also. That's the case location where we sent our i-485. We are sending off today.

Also if you examine the EAD mail that you received, you will find a sheet with barcode that says use this to speed up renewal of EAD card. So we are also including that.

    Good luck to your case.

  7. I think you should contact your senator ASAP, they can contact the USCIS office directly and find out exactly what is going on. The USCIS phone line is useless in my opinion, and service requests don't seem to help much in this situation. In my case I had my green card approval a week after the senator contacted USCIS. Others have had the same experience.

Was your case transferred to California? You should have got notifications if it was -one that it was transferred and one that it was received.

I am not sure about the fee waiver for the I-765, very few I-485 applications take this long so I don't know of anyone who has had to renew their EAD.

I received I-797C that the case was transferred to California service center. I didn't received another I-797C that case was received by California service center.

Hmmm, I wonder if my file was never received by California service center.

I am contacting my US Senator to help with my case.. Thank you.

  8. I opened a service request by calling customer service at USICS. I was told to wait 15 days and I should hear back from someone. Well after 15 days still no reply.

Few days ago I was able to make an appointment at Atlanta USICS office to get status update. We went there today.

After looking up the system, I was told that there was no update in the system and last update has "in transit "

This is a concern because when I checked status on USICS for my case, it was showing last update as "4/30/2012"

The customer service person at Atlanta USICS office opened another service request with expedite to status update because EAD is expiring soon, and recommend to submit another i-765 and can take up to 90 days.

I was told that I should hear back within 2 weeks with status information.

While I was there, I was told that our case was picked for an audit just today.

Does anyone know what an audit means? We are very concern about our case, since it's approaching expiration of EAD card.

I think I have pretty much exhausted all options at this point.

Should we wait another two weeks or should we go ahead and enlist help from my senator ?

I just checked i-765 form and it says that for renewal, fee is waived.. is that correct?

  9. Quick question about Advanced Parole. I am asking here since I have been with this forum all this time.

As part of our AOS filing, we also filed for Advanced Parole. It was approved along with work permit. It has EAD/Advanced Parole.

For our wedding anniversary, we want to visit Canada side Niagara falls. I heard it's more beautiful from Canada site.

Just want to make sure if it is okay go go out of USA and be able to come back to the USA as long as it's within EAD/Advanced Parole expiration date.

When we first applied we told that we want to goto Bahamas, but since it was received few months after the wedding, we end up going to Key west for honeymoon last year.

    Advanced Parole was never used.

Do you think there would be any problem?

BTW, no green card yet.... Still waiting
