  1. With family and a baby and unemployment can add to uncertainly, but there are reasons why you decided to get your green card .

With green card, you would definitely want to come here to the USA and live here. There are certain conditions that is required when you have a green card.   You spent so much work and effort in getting green card, don't lose it.  It can be hard to leave friend, family, and job to immigrate to the USA, but I am sure everything will be okay. Many of us here have done the same and are doing great.   You can establish your new life here and opportunities are great here.  I do not know any other place in the world that can offer many opportunities and freedom as here in the USA.  I say embrace your new home and wife's parents.  I am sure they be glad to help you until you can stand up on your own.

  2. As Many people have mentioned, immigration is not easy process but time consuming with added expense. Patience  will help you get thru and in the end you will have a happy ending.

I found a page that compares the pros and cons of the K-1 vs. CR-1 visa.  Take it look here.  It's very informative.

  3. My wife lost her wallet including her green card after we filed for I-751. We are planning to go out of the country next month but since she lost her expired green card, we made an appointment with local USCIS office and explained the situation and she received a stamp on her passport I-551. We asked the officer if it’s okay to travel with I-551 the recommendation was that we do not travel while pending I-751. That being said, from my research I-551 is like a passport which will allow you to be admitted back to USA from over sea travel. As of last week, my wife received her I-751 was approved and now she will be travelling with the green card.

As side note, I don’t care what everyone says, losing a green card in the future will not only be costly but way too much hassle. Maybe just carry a copy and keep the real one at safe place.

Has anyone experienced running into trouble by not carrying the green card?

  4. Have you guys noticed that a bunch of June filers (VSC) got transferred to local office or CSC? and they have not even finished April's filers. I think VSC is working on getting this delay out of their way. I would not mind if i get transfer to CSC for a faster decision!! Finger crossed

This might not be a good thing. During AOS our case from VSC was sent to CSC to help speed up, and actually took much longer and had to get US Senator help. I vowed myself that I would vote for him this election cycle, but he decided to retire.. :dancing:

  5. 1)Short answer is no. Form I-129F, who has been issued a nonimmigrant K-1 visa for travel to the United States in order to marry his or her U.S. citizen fiancé(e). Both the U.S. citizen and the K-1 visa applicant must have been legally free to marry at the time the petition was filed and must have remained so thereafter.

After you get married, then you would have to file for K-3 visa or married spouse form of visa.

  6. I am pretty sure, when you establish resident like in many of states, you are required to get driver license in that state.

I still have my EU DL and am just driving on that for the time being.

It a murky grey area that is consequence of the 3 month window of application for ROC being shorter than the standard processing time. Someone isn't joining all the dots.

  7. Hello everyone...

  8. health care administrator for your husband has set of policy and rules. In general, most plan would not allow him to add you to his policy since you are not a spouse.

My policy has allows me to add change in status like getting married and adding spouse to the plan.

I was able to add my wife to the plan after marriage and SSN was not required. Once SSN was received, I called back to update her profile.

You could get married in court and get marriage certificate, then have the wedding later on.

  9. You can start with a joint credit card application.

Also you can try to get secured credit card for her. I started out with $300 credit limit with Cap One with secured credit. After one year, they sent me to deposited money back and increased credit limit to $500 unsecured.

It's slow process, but got to start somewhere.
