My hubby took his oath yesterday, he's officially a US Citizen!! And we got a mention in the local paper http://www.joplinglobe.com/topstories/x688424730/Naturalization-ceremony-welcomes-new-citizens-at-George-Washington-Carver-National-Monument

I can't figure out how to update on the list, sorry!

Hubby took his oath yesterday

My husband had his interview yesterday. They asked for his greencard and driver's license. He had his expired greencard with him as well, the agent kept that one and gave him back his valid card. He took his passport with him but they didn't look at it. I went with him and sat in the waiting area the whole time, but I was not required to be there. Good luck with everything!

My husband (Danny) had his interview/test today in Springfield, MO. We would normally go to Kansas City, but apparently the federal building there is temporarily closed, so interviews are being held at Drury University in Springfield. We arrived early, there were only 2 agents conducting interviews. My husband's file was assigned to the male agent. He informed us that he was about to go on his lunch break and would return in 45 mins. We chose to remain at the library until he returned. Once he got back, he called Danny into the office and had him swear to tell the truth.

He went over Danny's N-400, confirming his answers to the questions. He didn't ask for our marriage certificate or my previous divorce decree. He didn't really look at our previous tax returns, we just had print-outs of our 1040 for the past 3 years, he basically said anyone could fake those forms so there was no point looking at them lol. He didn't ask for tax transcripts but did ask for W-2s which we didn't have but he seemed to be OK with that. He looked over our 'proof of marriage', we took our joint bank account statement and joint car insurance and those seemed satisfactory. He asked Danny our wedding date, how long we have lived at our current address, questions about my daughter (how old is she? what grade is she in?) and when was our last argument and what was it about.

Then he asked Danny to read a sentence and write a sentence, and commented that it's always silly to give the English test to native English speakers. He asked if Danny would be willing to bear arms in defense of the USA and if he would perform non-combatant service for the USA if needed. The questions he asked were as follows:

When do men have to register for the selective service? (Note: the answer he wanted was 'between 18 and 26', when Danny said 'at 18' he was asked to be more specific..)

Name one state that borders Canada.

How many Senators are there?

What ocean is on the east coast?

What is freedom of religion?

When was the Constitution written?

The whole time Danny was being interviewed, I could see into the room which made me really nervous lol. The interview took longer than the other person who was being tested at the same time, but partly because the agent testing my husband had computer problems and had to call someone to help him.. At the end, the agent asked Danny to choose between 2 upcoming oath ceremonies. Danny told him "I better ask my wife" and they waved for me to come into the room. We were given the choice of the next regularly scheduled ceremony in Kansas City on October 18th or a special oath ceremony being held in the the Joplin, MO area on October 12th. We were bummed that Danny will not make the Missouri cutoff date to vote in this November's election (it is Oct 6th here) but happy that he passed! We chose the Joplin ceremony on 10/12.

The agent said Danny will receive a letter in the mail telling him the time and place of the ceremony and he will need to bring the letter and his green card to the ceremony site or he will not be able to take the oath and will have to be rescheduled for another date. Overall it was pretty painless and very laid back compared to all the other immigration interviews we have been to and biometrics appointments at the big federal building in St Louis! Thanks to everyone here for all your support.. We started this process back in 2005 when we applied for his K1 visa and we are finally almost done! Love this site and all the support and advice we have received over the years! Thanks to everyone here!

My husband had his interview today in Springfield, MO. He passed the test and will be sworn in October 12th in Joplin, MO!

I live in St. Louis County. Kansas City is 4.5 drive for me, kinda worried about it 'coz I'm half way pregnant right now and I just sent my application today.

We are required to go to Kansas City because we are in the Western District. We live in the Fort Leonard Wood area. If you live in St Louis, you should have your interview and oath ceremony in St Louis since you are in the Eastern District.

Wow. Kansas City is quite far from St. Louis.

Yes, we live in mid-Missouri, about 2 hours from St Louis and 4 hours from Kansas City. It's a pain in the butt since we have to go to St Louis for all the bimoetrics and KC for the interviews :-/

Hi! I am the USC wife, we sent in my hubby's N-400 at the end of June. He had his fingerprints taken in July in St Louis, MO. We received an interview letter dated 02 August 2012, instructing him to go to the Kansas City Federal Building for his interview on 11 September 2012. We received another letter dated 08 August 2012 stating that his interview was cancelled and we would receive further information. Today we got a letter dated 09 August 2012 instructing him to go for his interview on 18 September 2012 at the Drury University Library in Springfield, MO. I'm wondering why they are having us go to Springfield instead of the normal location in Kansas City? I know it's not just us, I have a friend who was scheduled to go to KC for her interview on 27 August 2012 and her interview was also cancelled and rescheduled to Springfield on 19 September 2012. Just wondered if anyone else was or has been in the same situation?? Thanks!

My husband had his biometrics last month in Metairie, LA and they were out of the booklet and CD. I "assume" the CD has the same questions as the link we have been practicing with, correct? Is there anything on the CD we might need to know about? Thanks!

Shari - the CD has the same questions as the link above. The booklet has all the same questions and answers, plus more information explaining the answers in more detail.

You need to send everything to show your taxes/income.

1040's/W-2's etc...

One without the other will result in an RFI - that is why getting a transcript is best (has all your info)

I thought the main purpose of the tax info was showing that your assets are combined, not income?

Ok, I called the IRS to get tax transcripts and their system was down. They said call back later in the week and it might be fixed, blah blah blah. I want to get this I-751 sent off ASAP. I went ahead and requested the transcripts by fax, to have them mailed to me, but I'm not sure when I'll get them. I was able to hunt around and find copies of my tax returns from 2006, 2007, and 2008 (all filed jointly since marriage). I am going to send these copies and hope they are enough. But if we do get an RFE, we should have the IRS transcripts in hand by then.

So, my question is should I just send my 1040 forms, or should I send the whole thing including Schedule C, EIC, Child Tax Credit, etc? Do they really want all that info or are they mainly concerned with whether or not we filed jointly? What tax info did you send? Did you get an RFE or an approval?

We will be sending in our I-751 as soon as we get our tax transcripts from the IRS. I called today to see if they could fax them, and they said their system has been down since the 1st and I should call back later in the week. I already faxed the request form to have the transcripts mailed, but I will call back later in the week to see if they can fax them. I just want to get this stuff in the mail!

The way I see it, the form is asking for information about the alien spouse. Part 1 - Information about YOU (the petitioner). Part 3 - Information about YOUR spouse or parent. So Part 5 - Information about YOUR children - leads me to believe that they are asking about biological or adopted children of the immigrant spouse. We have never listed my daughter (from a previous marriage) on any of my husband's immigration forms. It just doesn't seem relevant to do so. Just my 2 cents!
