The financial adviser at my local bank said that I would have to get the mortgage loan through one of the larger banks, I don't recall the exact wording, but that it would likely require 10-20% down up front depending on credit, where a citizen in my situation would be able to do 3-5%. I don't know if it was a state requirement or something. I'm in Wisconsin. I should have taken better notes but I was driving when I was having the discussion. I guess the question at this point then is, what institution did you use and what did you put down?

I moved here in May 2013 on a K1 visa, my partner and I were married and i was issued my short term green card in December (don't remember what its called). Continued through the process and received my 10 year green card. that states that I've been a Resident Since 12/24/13. I would like to apply for citizenship but need to meet the 5 year status term requirement (we were divorced). Do I need to wait till December, as the card would indicate, or can I apply now on the basis that I was legally here since May 2013? I would like to buy a house this year but the process and costs for non-citizens are quire different.
Thanks in advance.

Complete false alarm. I rang the clinic and apparently the X-Rays are on a CD-ROM in the envelope. My heart stopped. Its not easy for me to get to that clinic and i posted this in a panic. Hope this is helpful for anyone else who goes through something similar though.

I had my medical and my dad collected the results for me. He wasn't given the X-rays though. Will i need them or have they removed the requirement for them?

Also, how Hersheys passes as chocolate is beyond me!
Still haven't been over,(waiting for NOA2) but my fiancée sent me some Hersheys as part of a Christmas bundle cos I heard it tasted like puke and I wanted to try it for myself. I'm pretty forgiving of sweets. But yeah. It tastes like puke, literally. Its kinda nuts. They use stuff called Butyric acid in Hersheys which is basically that yellow stuff that's left in your stomach when you've been getting sick for a few hours. the chemical labels for that one are pretty scary stuff too (Harmful, Corrosive) though i'm sure its in low enough quantities that its not actually harmful. There are things in this world i will never understand. One of which is why americans buy chocolate that tastes like vomit... I've had hersheys here. bought in ireland (made in their cork factory) and its one of my favourites. I just did not see that coming... the research was surprising too.
http://www.foodireland.com/ apparently buys all their stuff from Irish places (sausage and pudding too), has warehouses full of the stuff and sells all around america (perishable items must take 2 day shipping which is... expensive) but we're thinking that once per year we'll do 1 month of shopping from there. my fiancée much prefers all the food in Ireland. She has her stuff she likes over there too but I know its something she's kinda worried about when I get there, me not liking the food i mean. I find that pretty silly cos with anything you can find a way to make it good if you're willing to put in the effort with it. That's what real chef's do (for example with mince meat my dad HERE boils it first to drain off the fat and i MUCH prefer it that way) I'm sure I wont have that much of a problem doing similar things.

so i had a rummage around the forums for what is acceptable for skype call history records. From what i've gathered they don't even really look at them, they just like to know that you present them at all. all the exporter tools and stuff that are shown around have no redeeming features over copy/pasting the history that shows up in your skype history window into a word document. basically does it not matter just as long as you have some kind of record of your history?
Oh, also. the new G-325a form, any idea when thats going to be released or is it ok to use the form that expired on the 06/30 but is still the only one available on uscis?
Lawful Permanent Resident starts when?

I'd read the turn around was about 6 months, but I checked on the USCIS site for my center its as much as 15 months. I don't actually think its viable at all now to expect this to be done by april anyway so there's no real rush anymore. I guess trying to do time sensitive things that require the USCIS to be quick about anything is foolish.
