  1. or don't tell them unless you want big trouble. do they REALLY need to know everything?! (i'm not looking for an answer to that cause i know what i will get)

Too late for that. I have indicated the truth on all my paperwork. I will let you know on April 19th weather or not I regret telling the truth or not.

  2. Thanks,

What if I filed before I went to the interview? to show my good faith. Would this maybe change their minds?

I spoke to a lawyer and he explained to me that working in the US without authorization is not necessarily grounds for inadmissability. The only real problem I may have to deal with is misrepresentation.

    thanks again for the help

  3. I know I have asked this before but I think I made the question too complex.

Let's do it the easy way.

What would happen if your a Canadian citizen, worked in the US without authorization and did not file taxes?

What would be the outcome at a CR1 interview?

    thanks

  4. Hey,

I don't know if there is a thread like this already but I was thinking that maybe we can keep all the Montreal interview experiences in one thread. Maybe we can just copy and paste the past ones for future reference. Just a suggestion, as I find that I am always intrested in everyones experience at their Montreal interview. Good and Bad cases.....

oops, This was ment for the Canada discussion forum....my apologies =(

  6. A 601 waiver is a bit complicated. If you go to immigrate2us website they have a very good discussion forum regarding the 601.

I believe that 601 takes between 6mths to 1yr for approval.

Also, they can be submitted at the interview.

I am crossing my fingers that I will not need one.

    Good luck

  7. Hello there,

I am also going through Montreal Consulate.

My case was completed on Dec.19th and I found out I have my interview April.19th only about 2 weeks ago.

The wait for an interview date is about 3-4months from the date your case is completed.

    Hope this helps...

Good luck and try and be patient.

  8. Here is a question for you all.

Does anyone have any information on Canadians working in the US and filing taxes?

Long story but basically I lived in the US with an ex husband back in 2000. I worked on and off and never filed taxes. I worked as an independent contractor so no taxes were ever deducted.

I have been calling around to see if any of my previous employers in the US have any of my W2's handy but since it has been so long, they have archived all of them. I found out that it takes the IRS 60 days to retrieve any requested information and my interview is about a month away now.

I have been advised by a lawyer that it would be a good idea to file any back taxes before my interview, but I am stumped on how to get this done. He said it would show good intentions on my part. =)

I am not asking for lectures, as I know I should never have worked in the us without authorization and better yet without filing taxes. I am just trying to correct my mistakes now.

I just wish I would have known about this earlier.

Anyway, anyone that has any information or help regarding this matter will be great, and/or anyone that can direct me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated also.

    Thanks,

    Melliemel

  9. Hey all,

I was just wondering. Who gets the interview letter? Would it be the USC or the person I used as choice of agent?

I found out last week about my interview but I haven't received any documents in the mail yet.

    Thanks for the help

  10. thanks for all the kind words. I will need all the luck I can get because My case is not as cut and dry as most people. I have a lot of issues that I may have to deal with. I am crossing my fingers that I won't have to file a 601 waiver.

  11. never thought about taking the train. That might actually be really nice and relaxing. Hopefully it's sceneic.

Thanks for the help. you all are great.

BTW what was the name of the hotel that is really close to the consulate?

  12. Hello all,

I just priced on expedia for 2 people from To. To Mtl. I can't believe that it's over $500. I guess we will be driving. Unless anyone has a better site I can find.

    Hello all,

I am so excited. I finally got an interview date of April.19.06 at 9am.

I had e-mailed the NVC a few days ago because their automated system was not working and they responded today.

    I am sooooo excited.

  14. Hey,

I was having the same problem with the automated system. I tried again today at around 5:30 and what I did was press one for English and press 5 for an operator. If you try to input your case number etc. It just stops working.

I got through but it was a waste of time. I didn't get the news I was looking for. No news yet on an interview date yet =(

Good luck to the rest of u....

  15. I have a feeling that I will get an April interview but I am just anxious to know what week. I have so many plans in the month of April and I can't confirm any of them until I know what week my interview will be. Oh yeah, and to top things off the automated system is not working.... AAhhh I feel like I am going to tear my hair out....

Is there another number that I can call other than to 603-334-0700?

    Thanks,

  16. Hey,

Is anyone waiting for an interview yet? I am hoping for an April interview as my case was completed in December.

When is the best time to call and find out?

Is this next week to early?

I know they schedual interviews for CR1 in the first 2 weeks of the month.

I am just so anxious as all of you must be

    Thanks

  17. Thanks a lot Joanna. That was very nice of you to take your time and try and help me out as much as possible.

I have heard so many different things that might happen to me and the most common is to have a hardship letter ready. The problem with that is as you stated. To prove hardship.

We have no kids, he has no kids. There really is not much he can go by regarding hardship other than really missing me :D

I do not want to pay someone to write a hardship letter for us and then find out that we didn't need it. I guess we will just have to wait and see what will happen.

I have also heard that I may be forgiven for working there since I was married to a US citizen at the time. Also, since we were BOTH doing the job. I just use to get the cheque. I have already filled out my paperwork stating the truth about everything regarding my stay in the US during 1998-2003. And working there.

Thanks again for all the advice. I will take it into consideration

    Wish me luck :)
