  1. Hi all,

Does anyone here knows how else I can obtain a receipt number? My rep and I filed for an EAD over a month ago. She got the receipt number but she misplaced it. I've been going there every week to check up on my case because she never calls me with any update. I'm so frustrated because I feel she does care. I don't want to go there anymore because it seems I'm bothering her. I called USCIS but they won't give me a receipt number because of the sensitivity of my case.

  2. Hi Guys,

Could someone please help me with this??? I was married in April 2010 to my husband. During our marriage he was helping me to get my GC so we could go to our native county for a traditional wedding but things didn’t turn out that way due to the abuses that I suffered from him. In Feb 2011 I moved out of the house we were renting and got a place of my own. My lawyer that was working on my case at the time informed me that since I no longer want to remain married with him, she cannot represent me and she informed me about the VAWA. I went ahead and to a the International Institute in my state and they started helping me with my VAWA case. I filled in April 2012 but before that I received a letter from USCIS to come in with my husband for an interview. I went to my local USCIS office and told them of what was going on and asked them to hold my I-485. They did exactly that. Anyway my concern is that I used my work authorization based on the marriage to obtain a job and it expired so I recently requested for a renewal based on the pending I-485 and at the same time I’m working. Do you think working with that work authorization and still working although it has expired will affect the approval of my VAWA case??? Do you think they’ll approve this new EAD. It’s just so tough not to work and to stay home and think about all the bad things that I endured from my past relationship. Plus I moved to the state where my husband is stationed to I don’t know anyone and can’t go talk to anyone about what I’m going through so my only option is to find a job to keep my mind off things.

    Thanks

  3. Hopeful 2011 wait a little bit more, they are adjudicating Jan 2012, your Vawa was approved in Feb 2012, probably in one month or 45 days you will hear something about the interview. I just had one case that they approved her GC WITHOUT INTERVIEW. It's not common tho!It was in Connecticut.

    Hi,

I’m wondering if I could refer someone in the NYC area to you since you’re an immigration attorney.

    Thanks

  4. Hi everybody same here got my third Prima Facie with 60days line, USCIS will make a decision within 150 days, like you my PF will expire in June, and this last prima facie I didnt request it weird ugh hope to hear of aprovals soon 11 mo waiting

Hello guys, I’ve been following this forum for a while now but never left a comment. We’re all in the same boat. I’ve been praying praying praying and trying to stay strong for myself and my family back home. My life is on major hold. There is absolutely nothing going on. I’m in a state where I don’t know anyone so it make it extremely difficult to cope. I can’t wait to get this behind me and go home to see my family…it’s been over 15 years since I last saw my mother. As for the Prima Facie, my rep told me that there is no need to ask for a renewal because they renew it automatically and it’s just a way for them to buy time while they work on your case. They received my VAWA case April 12th, 2012. I got a Prima Facie about two months later. I didn’t hear anything from then until I called and inquired about my case. That’s when they sent another one just last month for 180 days.

  5. Hi all, My AOS based in marriage was denied today because I went to the interview alone. I informed the IO that that my husband and I are no longer together due to abuse and that I've filed a VAWA and waiting for a receipt. She asked that my lawyer send the local USCIS office a copy. Now what do I do or what will happen? Could my I-485 based on marriage be used for the VAWA or do I have to file a new one? My I-360 and EAD is on it's way to me. Could I still use it? Has anyone had a similar situation?

  6. Hi all,

Here is my concern and question. I applied for my change of status through a lawyer. I received a notice for finger prints. I got that done. I just received another notice for an interview. I'm not sure if I should go to the interview or not because I left my husband for domestic abuse and now I have a restraining order against him. I filed a VAWA through a different lawyer. I'm just trying to find out if I should go to the interview and explain to the IO that my husband as abused me and that's why he can't be there...If I go the the interview, will they still give me a green card or will they cancel the application with my husband and wait for the VAWA to be approved? Thanks
