  1. Hey TC,

I would like you to test her and see if this marriage is just based on the green card. You will need to tell (email her) that immigration has contacted you regarding some error they found on your paperwork and would like you and your wife to make an appointment to correct the error..then you will see how her attitude towards you changes...

Is there also anyway you can find out why she spends so much time online? who is she chatting with? If she lets you access her netbook, then maybe you can check the history.

  2. Kissjo,

It seems like you only have about 2-3 weeks for your oath, which means you probably wont even need to apply for a passport at the passport agency. You can apply at the acceptance offices which mostly are the post offices and just pay the passport fee + $60.00 expedite fee, and if you want it mailed overnight, its another $12.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

  3. You can get a passport within one (1) hour, just depends on the passport agency.

Here are the locations you can apply for a passport if you have an itenerary as proof that you are travelling within 2 weeks:

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/npic/agencies/agencies_913.html

    Make sure you:

    Make an appointment

Passport size picture (1 or 2)

    Naturalization Certificate

    Drivers license or State ID

Money $$$$ for the passport and/or parking

  4. To my understanding you will have to wait until June 8, 2011 since it will be 5 years.

You are allowed to apply for citizenship 90 days before but cannot be sworn in until your 5 year anniversary. You were very lucky to have an interview so soon.

When is your conference? You can always apply for an expedited passport at the passport agency.

  5. As a matter of fact, I used this facility last week to apply a passport for my nephew. We applied on Friday, May 6th, 2011 and received it on Tuesday, May 10th.

The service was great! The only problem was because the office is brand new, their one hour passport making machine was not ready and that's why it took a day.

Its about 5 minutes from the exit and getting a parking was not hard at all. Parking cost us about $7 for the 40 minutes we were there.

Once we got to the building, we took the elevator to the 10th floor and was met by federal security. The first thing they asked if we had an appointment. After security, we went to window #2 and was asked for the appointment confirmation and evidence of the itenarary to prove travel is within 2 weeks.

She then asked for all the documention and went to make copies. We were given a number an was told to sit down. Before we even left the window, our number was called at window #3. The lady looked

At all the documents and asked my sister to raise her hand and she swore everything was true. Since my nephew is only 2 weeks old, we had to hold him up in the car seat for her to match the picture with the baby.

The whole appointment took less than 30 minutes. We had to pay the passport fee plus the expedite fee. Total fee was $165.00 since the

passport was for the minor. The do accept cash but it has to be in the exact amount.

I give it an A+++ for the service they provided. Thanks to them, my sister and nephew are in Tanzania today!

  6. Has he had continous residence in the US since 2008? Meaning he hasnt left the US for a long period of time..

Since you have been married for 3 years, and he has been a resident since June 2008, then he was eligible to file since March 2011.

Depending on the city and state where you live, applications for N400 are running about 4-6 months. You can visit the US citizenship general discussion board for more details and info:

  7. Unless you get an AP before you move to Germany, he will more than likely lose his status in th US.

According to your timeline, if the greencard was received April 2009, he will be able to apply for US citizenship January 2012. I recommend him to apply for citizenship before you leave to Germany as with a US passport, he will be able to come and leave the US as he pleases.

  8. Well, if you are sure you want a divorce, depending on how long it takes for your state, you may need to file it right away. If you dont know his whereabouts, the county will try to serve him with the divorce paperwork.

Once the divorce is granted, you will have to imeediately file form I-751 to remove conditions and get the 10 yr green card. When you file, you will need to provide evidences throughout your marriage such as joint bank statements, joint credit card statements, joint utility bills. Anything and everything you have in both names to prove this marriage was entered in good faith.

Once immigration reviews your file, they will determine to approve you, call you for an interview, deny or even request more paperwork.

But immigration will not know that you husband any other children unless you state so. You may include a cover letter in your paperwork with a summary of what happened.

  9. I am not sure how the CR process works, but from my personal experiance, if you are the petitioner (US citizen) applying for benefits does not hurt the immigration process since you have been paying taxes so you have basically paid into the system. I have not seen any immigration forms inquiring about the petitioner (USC) receiving ant federal or state aid .

Here in GA we have 'Right from the start medicaid', this is a special medicaid for pregnant women which covers prenatal care, delivery and post delivery check up.

  10. Congratulations ED*Reza!

This is same experiance I had with the Atlanta office when I was naturilized December 9, 2009.

In my country, the children are only given one name, for example: Mary

Then the children are given the middle and last name to match the fathers name. For example father's name is John Smith.

This means the child ends up being named Mary John Smith (wierd!) but since its a custom back home no one dares to change it.

So, after my interview, the io looked at my application and stated, first name is Mary, middle name: John and last name: Smith

and she looked at the birth ceritificate and stated your only given name is Mary, middle nameis blank and the fathers name is John Smith and even though it may be customary in your country to use your fathers name as the middle name but here in the US its not. So, from today, your name is Mary Smith.

So my certificate only had Mary Smith, I took it to the ss office and got a new card with only Mary Smith. I woth to the DMV and got a new 10 yr licence with Mary Smith. I called the bank, the insurance, the power company etc..and removed my middle name.

So far I havent had any issues and I love my new short name!
