  1. I want to check I have this right so I'd be grateful if someone could let me know if I'm asking for the right thing or if I do actually need more shots.

When I had my medical in London there was no record of my mumps vaccination and my GP said they did not have a record of it. I had everything else required so they completed the DS-3025 as "vaccine history incomplete" and applicant may be eligible for a blanket wavier because vaccinations not medically appropriate". They also gave me a letter and said I either needed to get the MMR x2 or a blood test to show I am immune to mumps.

I did nothing with this till I came over to the USA. I went to my husbands doctor explained the situation and he requested a blood test and I had it for the measles, mumps and rubella, all came back showing I have antibodies and the doctor said I do not require a MMR as I'm immune.

Now comes the fun part **rolls eyes insanely and smacks head against a wall** like most we phone a lot of Civil surgeons most wanted to do the whole medical again and prices were ridiculous from $150 - $500. We thought we found one that was reasonable and knew what we were asking for. I went on Saturday they looked through all my paperwork, my blood work results etc and he said that they would call Monday, said everything was ok with the paperwork etc.

The receptionist has just called me today and said I do need the MMR vaccine as it was over 10 years ago, is this correct?? I thought as long as you had the antibodies you don't need another injection??

She also said I need a test for TB which I said I do not, and I also need blood work (I have no idea what for) I told her i don't need a medical and none of this was mentioned when I came in on Saturday.

  2. I really don't see a problem if you have been sober 6 years and your GP has mentioned taking you off anti-depressants. Just ask him for a letter stating that and the same thing for your daughter and that should be fine for your medical.

  3. If you could just go over, get married and stay don't you think we would have all done that. Do it the proper way, either get married come back and file or file for the K1. It isn't complicated, it can be a long process but there is lots of info how to do it.

  4. We sent a copy of all our boarding passes, flight details etc, about 4 photos, a few emails and a few cards.

We had about 9 visits so I typed up a page with all the dates and visits and put it infront of the evidence of the flights etc.

    for the order

 Payment in the amount of $340

     I-129F

 G-325A and passport style photo (Petitioner)

 G-325A and passport style photo (Beneficiary)

 G-325A Supplement, Q: Employment last five years (Beneficiary)

 Copy of front and back of Birth certificate (Petitioner)

 Letters certifying intent to marry (Petitioner and Beneficiary)

 Proof of having met in person in the past two years

     Proof of ongoing relationship

and put the tracking form I forget what its called on the front of everything so they can text/email you.

  5. I was told 6 weeks from the medical being logged, that's what I meant. The woman I spoke to said it varied case by case, I just wonder what makes some quicker and slower.

Maybe I am just bad with maths...

Everyone's timelines seem so different! I am clutching at straws for hope because the gap between last time I saw my fiance is likely to be three and a half months at this rate and that will be the worst we ever did! :-(

It will be the last one you will do too

  6. It takes 3-4 working days to get it back. You can book a flight as soon as you use the tracking number they give you and know its on its way. I didnt tell my boss until after the interview - just to be 100% sure.

Thanks jingo. I'm thinking of telling them after my interview too, I'm going to be nervous enough without people asking a million questions beforehand. My interview is on a Friday so I can give my notice Monday morning.

  7. I'm confused what I actually need. I've read the pinned topic and then I've read this

"A general certificate of health is not required by CDC for entry of pet cats into the United States, although some airlines or states may require them. However, pet cats are subject to inspection at ports of entry and may be denied entry into the United States if they have evidence of an infectious disease that can be transmitted to humans. If a cat appears to be ill, further examination by a licensed veterinarian at the owner's expense might be required at the port of entry.

Cats are not required to have proof of rabies vaccination for importation into the United States. However, some states require vaccination of cats for rabies, so it is a good idea to check with state and local health authorities at your final destination" on http://www.cdc.gov/animalimportation/cats.html

So does it depend on what the state requires and the airline? and do I only need to get a pet passport if I want to bring him back? :help:

  8. Um... WHAT!! Haha dang you are seriously some lucky kids to get this news so fast!! It's great!

Well that is six weeks.. is this what you mean? It's September 1 now, so yeah, 41 days. Apparently it could be sooner, but probably only a week like Mike/Rach, and perhaps they were scheduled before us. September is booked solid (I've heard), so there's not much earlier it could get, right?

And yes, we wrote our true wedding date on the ds-2001 cover letter: 11/29/11.

I know right lol I said Noooooooooo really?!

How long does it usually take to get your visa after the interview? I don't know when to look at going and when to set our wedding date? I also dont really know when to tell work :S

  9. Hi everyone,

We just received our NOA1 last week, and are well aware that there is likely to be a reasonably long waiting period before we hear anything further from USCIS, assuming we don't get a RFE.

I was wondering if anyone on VJ, especially any Brits, could tell me how far in advance you should generally apply for a Police Certificate? And how long are British Police Certificates valid for?

I know this may sound stupid, but I googled British Police Certificate and what came up what info about the Disclosure Scotland Act, and how to apply for a Disclosure. Would I be correct in saying that applying for a Basic Disclosure equates to applying for a Police Certificate. I'm sorry if this sounds really dumb, but I'm on information overload right now.

    Thanks

http://london.usembassy.gov/ukpc.html I'd apply for it when you get the NOA2
