AP and EAD are free when you file for adjustment of status. Once approved for them you will get a plastic card good for both, work and travel. Some where in there you will have biometrics, then interview.
Thank you very much for your response. I will have to prepare the documentation for AP.

we sent $1070, you might as well file for AP it is free after all (i didn't after wife told me not to) wish i had now
it is a fee of $985 + $85 for the biometrics for the AOS/I-485 and the EAD/i765 (work authorization) and the AP/permit to travel are both free when applying for AoS
Thank you for the information! I was assuming AP (travel document) costs additional $380. Now I will add the request for travel document.
Thank you again

Hi guys,
Adjsuting a status from K-1 - I completed the package; went to USCIS office and they gave me a pricing list, that says that AOS and Authoriazation for work should be exact $1,000. We are not applying for travel document.
After completing the package, I got an RFE for incorrect amount. What is really frustrating - in RFE letter they do not indicate what is the correct amount!!!
Does anyone know what is the exact amount should be send to Chicago mailbox for AOS and Work Authorization?
Thank you.

When I called to the MVD Office (listed in the Moscow Embassy website) , they told me that I could sign a limited power of attorney document and someone else coudl get this certtifate from the MVD. If you spent 7 years in Russia, you must know how to expedite the "waiting time"... Good luck

Hi to all, my fiancee was told that interview was fine and she will receive her visa after supplying an original police certficate (somehow she managed to take a color copy to the interview); which was sent via courier to the Embassy . Its been 2 full business days since the package was received by the embassy. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to mail visa back (to fihish the review) and what this all about (administrative review)?
I am checking DHL monitoring and its still at the embassy and plane tickets are getting more expensive day by day.

I think you still can do it; if your wife's income was in Russia, its not taxable (there are rules and limitations) . I would suggest to contact experienced tax preparer (5+ years); usually HR Block has someone on call for off season period; and it should not be that expensive to file an amended return with one adjustment for status. I think it better be safe than sorry. Good luck

Hi, as a tax preparer I know 2 things - if you married even on the last day of the year , you have to indicated status as "married". Second - I can't give an advise n tax without knowing all of the details; sorry, so my suggestions will be in general terms.: If you inducated "Head of Household" , then you have some dependents, is that right? Then, if you claim "Married filing separately", you will take a big hit on return , because you will not be able to claim most of the credits allowed...
My suggestion - I assuming - you still can amend your tax return as married, filing jointly, but with indication "SSN" pending (for wife) . In this case, your will not take a hit on taxes. Contact a tax person with an experience at least 5 years for a consultation. Embassy requires the last year's tax return , they will prebably review and it might be a problem . Maybe other members have a better info?

Hi, my fiancee also from one of the republics of former Soviet uniion. her country uses latin alphabet, but I still wrote her name Russian for I-129 beacuse I indicated St Petersburg consulte; it worked. In your case, depends what language the embassy in Ukraine will use; write in that language. Good luck
-
The same thing happened to me -I indicatesd St Petersburg consulate, but it went to Moscow after NVC review automatically - I called NVC , they already knew that the case will go to Moscow (despite NOA2 still indicating St Petersburg). My fiance got the police certficate in 20 days from local St Peterburg MVD without any priviliges; and even if they say it's 1 month, it doesn't take more than that. If you want it faster than that , then other people my have better suggestions for you. Good luck

If you can , do it in St Petersburg, the hotels are cheaper and better than in Moscow; there is a season of white nights (polar nights ) right now, with only couple of hours of actual nighttime in during month of June; so it would be better there. Visit places like Hermmitage< Russian Museeum , Petropavlovskay krepost, Avrora, and so on - this ciy is the cultural center of Russia!

I am assuming the question is : when your fiance will have her passport back after the interview? If so, as far I know , it takes an embassy 1 to 3 business days to return the passport (and I am assuming you will pick up passport at the embassy) .

congratulations! you are one good looking couple!!!

Hi, I am not sure what EB 2 visa; my situation is K-1 visa : NOA2 was 04/19; NVC left May 4 - 15 days ; Embassy received May 11 or 12; and interview scheduled for July 12. I hope this helps to get an approximate date . Good luck

I know people did it in Moscow successfully. I recommend e-mailing them and asking for it. This is the best way. Just be creative in explaining your feelings in the e-mail.
Thank you for a reply. I was emailing to general mailbox and already explained them my situation previously. Is there another email adress ro the way to do it? Thanks again

How it's work - petition to expedite? Is there a form to fill out? Thank you.

Hi guys, I emailed an embassy in Moscow three times after receiving NOA2 on April 19 , explaining that my fiance's stay in the country epxires June 16th and asking them to make an interview date before the expiration. After that she has to make an exit entry to Russia again. Today I received an email with an interiew date July 12th. It's like adding an insult to 6 monnths NOA2 wait + 1 month for NVC +2 months for an interview. I am just hoping is there a chance to move the interview date closer? Will congressman assistance help in this case?
Thank you in advance

Yes, it hapenned to me - I indicated a consulate which doesn't isuse K-1; letter from USCIS indicated the same consulate; however, NVC corrected the issue and sent the papaerwork to the Embassy. i hope this helps

hi guys, I am sorry I don't know the answer to this question; but I have one on my own - my fiancee knows the name, but doesn't know (and doesn't want to know) the current address ofone of her parents. Should she leave the adress as "unknown"?
Thank you

Same to you!

Hi guys, we are preparing for an interview in Russia, and we have a problem in our hand: fiance birth ceritifcate indicates one place of birth ; while passport say another. it's long story; of course we are worried how to explain this at interview. Main document in former soviet republic is passport, not a brith certficate, and i-129f and I indicated info from the passport. Does anyone previoulsy has this problem? What might happen? Any input is appreciated!!!

Hi guys , does anyone know which of financial/divorce documents should be notorized - tax returns, support affidavit, banking info, etc?
Some people are suggesting certified divorce paperwork should be sent to embassy; if USCIS already accepted a copy of divorce paperwork, is there a reason for embassy to ask for a certfiied copy?
And what is the difference between certfied and notarized copy?
All info is appreciated!!!

Precipitous Marriage?

Dating 3-5-7-10 years - if there is no marriage, then why are guys wasting each other times? Then what - date the next person for the same period of time?
My opinion (which of course maybe wrong) - the person should know after 6 month, maxiumum 1 year of dating if this is the one for marriage or not. It"s unfortunate that INS requires a marriage with K-1 within 90 days of entry; I personally think K-1 should allow 6 month of stay - even tourist have more time on hand and processing time takes longer than 6 month!!
