  1. Former Marine Standing Guard At Elementary School Lied About Service Record

HUGHSON (CBS13) – The feel-good story of a former U.S. Marine standing guard outside a local elementary school doesn’t feel so good the day after.

It turns out Craig Pusley isn’t in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, he didn’t serve overseas as he told CBS13 on Wednesday and he was discharged after less than a year with the second-lowest ranking in the Marines, private first class (E-2).

Pusley, who stood guard in uniform but unarmed outside Hughson Elementary School on Wednesday, was stationed at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego from July 2007 until April 2008, according to the Marines’ public affairs office. He was never deployed.

“I’m in shock, that’s very bad,” said one mother. “This isn’t something to be playing around with; this is serious and it’s scary.”

Pusley said Wednesday he was a sergeant in the Reserve after being on active duty in Afghanistan. He also claimed to be in the service for nearly 10 years, as well as serving two tours in Iraq.

Some parents hope school administrators will think twice before letting a man in uniform on campus.

“Check, just to make sure they are who they say they are, because anybody can do it, take advantage and something mad could happen,” the mother said.

Pusley was back in front of the school on Thursday but in a coat and tie. He said Wednesday he was prompted to take action after the tragic school shooting last week in Newtown, Conn. He left mid-morning, however, as questions surfaced about his past.

“I would take a bullet for any one of these kids whether I know them or not,” he told CBS 13 Wednesday. “If a gunman comes into this school, I’m not gonna kill him. I’m gonna drag him out of here. I’m gonna let the law take care of him.”

The school’s principal, Laura Fong, wouldn’t comment on Thursday because she said she didn’t know all the facts regarding the controversy. But she said it was a “very heartwarming thing” when the former Marine showed up Wednesday and his presence made her and the staff feel safer.

But once administrators learned he was lying about his service record, Pusley was kicked off campus.

CBS13 tried reaching out to him, but was unsuccessful.

WSMV-TV Nashvillle reported that another former Marine, Staff Sgt. Jordan Pritchard, also stood guard in front of Gower Elementary in Nashville, Tenn. On Wednesday. Pritchard, who has two children at the school, said he wanted to provide extra security to students and teachers.

Marines spokesman Capt. Gregory A. Wolf said the Marine Corps contacted Pritchard, requesting that he stop wearing his uniform outside the school. Wolf said a Marine Corps order prohibits former Marines from wearing their uniform in public, except for military funerals, memorial services, weddings, inaugurals, and parades on national or state holidays.

At no point was the former Marine asked to stop standing in protection of his son’s school, Capt. Wolf said, and the Marine Corps is not investigating Pritchard or Pusley.

Thanks for encore! Sometimes you just have to read it twice for it to click. Unfortunately i still disagree. But it really doesnt matter what i think. I guess if the title gets edited by the mods then it will answer the question.

  3. It doesn't accurately describe the topic being posted about. Instead, it's an insult meant to get a response. That would be baiting.

Right, but how can it be in insult to a member to verbally lash out at the government as long as the words don't directly violate the TOS. I think if he would have called a member of VJ garbage then he would have directly violated the TOS. I havent read anything about topics being accuately decribed about the post in the TOS. But like i said i havent been an expert at it. :)

  4. It takes alot of panels to produce the kind of electricity you would need to run a house hold with a central air conditioner. IMO is not a very good investment. Using a few panels to lower your monthly utility bill would be nice to have but will be a long time before you are saving money. Unless it grows on a tree in the backyard. I dont think the grid will reduce anytime soon due to solar power. IMO

  5. I printed out every phone call i ever made to her. It was probably excessive and not needed but i did just in case. Pictures together, letters, emails, chat logs, engagement party invitation (if you had one). My wife said the first interview they looked at everything except all the phone logs and when she sat down with the american they didnt look at anything and only asked questions. I'm sure that probably varies for each individual. Good luck

  6. seriously, what is the point? in my experience ingenuity is priceless.

Ingenuity is. I agree. How are you going to crumble a mountain of debt over your head? It takes ingenuity to do it. Like cutting science programs that do nothing to contribute to the growing debt. This is the information age though. Just wish it was the financial information age.

  7. ‘PH should prepare for nuclear crisis’

THE Philippines should start preparing a disaster management program in case the dispute between South and North Korea escalates and ends in a nuclear war, according to Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

Santiago said that since the Philippines is a non-nuclear player, it cannot do anything to help prevent the escalation of the crisis. However, it can start preparing for the possible effects of a nuclear explosion.

She warned that the Philippines would severely suffer from a nuclear warfare, thus, the government should prepare for a possible nuclear disaster.

“In our country, residual radiation could cause severe damage to human health such as leukemia, congenital defects and mental retardation,” Santiago said.

The senator, who is an expert on international law, noted that the country should also have on the ready analyses of certain laws applicable in armed conflict such as human rights and genocide conventions, principles of neutrality and environmental law.

She said the government should emphasize that it is neutral, and that North Korea must observe the principles of neutrality.

“In other words, North Korea should not do any harm to us because we are not a player in this game,” Santiago told reporters after delivering a speech at the commencement exercises of Our Lady of Fatima University at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

In additional to the principle of neutrality, she said the Philippines is also protected by the principles of environment law, which prohibits the use of weapons which have “widespread, long lasting or severe effects” on the environment.

However, the Philippines’ neutral position could change in case North Korea decided to bomb the United States mainland. The country has a mutual defense treaty (MDT) with the US.

She explained that under the MDT, the Philippines is obliged to help the US in case it is attacked.

Santiago however expressed doubt if North Korea has weapons capable of reaching US targets.

Also, she said it would be suicidal for North Korea to carry out a nuclear strike against South Korea and other countries.

“But there is this isolated black swan phenomenon wherein the unthinkable happens,” Santiago said.

  8. You think SEAL team 6 is up to this job? I doubt that any sane chief executive would consider ordering such a strike knowing that if things went wrong millions of innocent lives could be lost. What would you do if you were president?

Try to get him to move most of his military south near the DMZ. Coordinate with China so we can stage in the north. Have warships on both sides of the pennisula. There are alot of innocent lives that will be lost. Or i should say, there has already been to many innocent lives lost both on the north and south. If you can provoke him enough to move his military south, within a few days most of them will be gone. He knows that if he provokes a war that his days will be done. With that kind of mobilization he may reconsider and a shot may never be fired. That country needs change. Those North Koreans have been cut off from the world and have been starved from everything. I think it is sad when people dont give a ####### about it.

  9. North Korean lives are at stake as well. There are many concentration camps and labor camps inside North Korea were the people are slaves, barely fed and publicly executed. He doesn't need to be provoked. He needs to be taken out along with his military. The people may be loyal to him but that is because they are afraid. As soon as he is removed and they are fed, they will be thankful and forget about that douchebag.
