There's no chance in heck I'd sign that petition. I don't want the numerical limits removed. The fact that there are waiting times for priority dates to become current is an indication that the number of applicants exceeds the annual allotment of visa numbers. For some family preference categories the number of applicants exceeds the annual allotment by an order of magnitude. That adds up to millions of applicants waiting in line right now for a chance to enter the US as an immigrant. If you open the floodgates and let all of those people get a visa now then they'll enter the US, get their green cards, and immediately petition for millions more. Those millions will get their visas in a year or so, and then enter the US, get their green cards, and petition for many millions more, and on and on. I don't personally want to see the unemployment rate triple or quadruple in the next five years, nor do I want to see even ONE US citizen unable to find a job because they're all occupied by family based immigrants.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing annual numerical limits applied to immediate relatives of US citizens.
