  1. What medical for ur son are u talking about? Is it for his TB medications ? U should have received a letter from the Health Department in your area so ur son can start his medication for free. My daughter did that and we got a letter from the health dept. a few weeks from the time my kids arrived here. Maybe u got the letter in the mail and throw it thinking it was junk mail.

If i were u go to ur nearest health dept and ask together with ur son's medical records.

Thanks for the reply! We will definitely visit our nearest health department and take it from there.

According to the remarks on his medical report, it says not started on LTBI treatment, so I guess that's what the follow up medical is about.

We haven't received any letter from the health department in our area. I screen all our mails and I'm sure I didn't miss it.

Is this 9month medication for free at the health department?

  2. Hi everyone!

We are now in the US on K1 visa with my son (K2).

The pre-departure medical gave me a copy of my son's medical report and it says that he needs to do medical follow up within 1 month upon arrival in the US.

My question is: where do we need to have his follow up medical exam taken? Does it need to be with civil surgeon too?

Another thing is we're past the one month stage, we're here for 1 1/2 months now (my fault). Will that affect anything?

I hope someone with the same experience could shed us some light.

    Thank you!

  3. Hi everyone! Happy new year!

My interview is in 2 days and I still feel like I don't have enough to show proof of financial support.

I need any comments / suggestions as to what else we can provide in such short notice.

    Here's what we have:

    1. ITR for 2008 - 2010 (all well above 125% of poverty level)

    - 1040 complete with schedules

    2. 2008 - 2009 he doesn't have W2's because he worked in a foreign country (foreign income exempt from tax)

    3. 2010 his income was solely derived from capital gains (he sold all the shares of his company that year)

    - 2010 bank statements that reflect deposits of payment for the shares he sold

    4. 2011 proof of business ownership (sushi restaurant)

    - but he currently doesn't pay himself for the business (so as to help it grow)

    - he doesn't have direct income from this except for tips when he helps serve tables

    - his bank statements for 2011 doesnt show a lot of money since he's channeling his past years' income to the restaurant

Based on what we currently have, I'm sure most of you who've been through the interview stage of K1 would already have some comments on this. Please let me know if you think we're at a good spot for the interview or if we still need more?

We don't have enough time to get actual transcripts from the IRS so I'm at a loss here.

    Any help would be appreciated...

  4. Hi everyone!

I just have some quick questions in preparation for my K1 interview:

    1. Do we need to have his ITR (form 1040) notarized?

    2. Are the past 3 years of ITR enough or do we really need tax transcripts?

    3. The annual income in his 2010 ITR is from selling shares of the company he previously owned, so he doesn't have pay stubs for that since he was self-employed. What document can he show to support his income for that year?

    THANKS in advance!

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  5. giving a cyber bump on this thread..

my interview is next week and we are still lost as to what other "proof" we can prepare to show his current sustained income.

his past 3 years ITR are looking good, but they are from a previous business which he doesn't own anymore.

for his current sushi restaurant, he doesn't have a documentation to prove that he's paying himself monthly as the owner/manager.

    what to do? please help!

thank goodness i found this thread!

additional question though, what would be the proof of sustained income for the present period if the only thing a self-employed person would present is the tax transcript for the past year?

i saw an old thread before but i cant trace it anymore and the petitioner said that his fiance was asked for additional documents during the interview to show current sustained income.

my fiance/petitioner owns a restaurant but i dont think he pays himself monthly through his bank account.

so he may not have documentary proof to show that he has a steady income from his business.

    any ideas?

    thanks well in advance! :)

  6. Hi Mellow!

It's not the AP as in administrative processing.

The NVC's email to us says "This petition is currently undergoing additional processing. We will

send further instructions once this processing is completed."

When my fiance called to ask about this, they said it's just really additional processing but not necessarily background check. It's more of a routine, sounds like. He also asked to speak to a supervisor and the person said that we should just keep checking back on the status of the case.

Btw, I'm not a male and not a Muslim.

The part 1 of this topic was 1 or 2 years ago and it seems like it takes about 2-4 weeks for this additional processing status. We are just trying to stay positive and let the case take its course, whatever it may be.

Although, we are quite anxious since I have already set my interview appointment for early in January.

    (Excited much) :)

  7. hi fellow Pinays (and hubby) :)

I posted the same question before and I got several replies from senior members here who also have Manila as their embassy post.

Most of them said that co-sponsors for K1 are accepted on a case-to-case basis. Some say they've seen couples who had co-sponsors and got approved. It seems like nobody really knows the perfect or right answer to this question.

They all have the same advice though, that it's better to be "armed" with more documents for financial support because the usual reason for denial or further processing is the inability of the petitioner to prove that he/she can support the beneficiary and his/her dependents.

My fiance and I are having his dad as his co-sponsor. We will have both the I-134 and I-864 from his dad just to be super sure. Because there was one thread I read before that suggested to also have the I-864 (even if it's not required at the interview stage in Manila) since it's more 'encompassing' on the financial support once you move there.

Another important thing to note is that it's better to have a close relative as a co-sponsor (like an immediate family member).

I hope this helps, somehow. Please be aware that I'm only saying things that other people have advised me but I have not personally gone through this yet. My interview will be in January 2012.

  8. Hi everyone!

We are currently stuck at NVC for "additional processing".

We received the same email response as above.

The unusual thing was that an agent told us over the phone the other day that our K1 case has been sent out on December 1. Then yesterday we got an email response saying it's under AP. So we called to confirm by phone and the agent said it was probably tagged to be sent out Dec 1 but wasnt sent out and now for AP. What the??

I know there's nothing that can be done at this point but wait.

It's just frustrating that you have your MNL case no but there's another red tape to go through.

I know it's for valid security reasons but I guess I just want to vent and see if there's anyone out there on the same status like us.

Our NOA2 is November 21 and just a week later we already got our MNL case number.

Now another waiting game begins with the AP at NVC.

Goodluck to all of us on this boat and let's stay positive!

  9. Hi everyone!

I'm not sure if the online scheduling is the same for all countries.

I just have a problem about our interview appointment.

    I'm a K1 beneficiary and I have a K2 derivative.

I was only able to schedule for my own interview, thinking that's enough for me and my kid.

I didn't see any part in the online scheduling that refers to a K2 derivative.

My questions is, how will they accomodate my K2 son for the interview, when only my name is scheduled for the interview?

Please, please anyone who has an idea about this.

My appointment is set on the week of Christmas and I'm afraid that if I cancel it, I wont get any more slots near in the early part of January.

I was hoping there's some way I can ask the embassy to include my son in my interview slot.

    Thanks in advance guys!

  10. In other words this girl was asked to provide a background check in her married name only . She already had the one you would normally get that was maiden name only that included all AKA's

    hi guys!

    i'm confused about this too.

please correct me if i'm wrong, you're saying that this person was requested to submit a new nbi clearance containing only her previous married name? (even if she has an nbi clearance with both her maiden name and aka previous married name)

thanks for your patience in explaining.

just want to be sure as i'm on the same boat.

  11. Hi all!

We just got our NOA2 email notification that says our petition got approved last November 21.

Our NOA1 was June 23 so it took around 5 months for us.

We were starting to lose hope about getting it this November then we got the email!

So just sit back, relax and it will come soon for June filers like us!

For those who are still awaiting theirs, just keep being patient and positive about it.

You will be elated once you get it and they say things will get faster from there.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

  12. Hi guys!

We're currently preparing the supporting documents for my interview at the USEM in Manila in December.

We are planning to have his dad co-sponsor us just as a back-up since my fiance is self-employed.

Is there anybody here from Manila who has actually experienced submitting a co-sponsor and getting approved?

I've read tons of threads related to co-sponsorship and self-employed petitioners but I haven't actually seen a post from someone who's been there, done that.

I'm sure any actual experience would shed some light to us who are confused and worried at this point.

    Thanks!

  13. Hi there!

We are on the same boat. Exactly 5 months on the 23rd!

2weeks ago, our lawyer called the USCIS and they said it's still within normal processing time of 5months.

He told us to be more patient and that it will come anytime soon.

It's so easy to get impatient and hopeless in times like this.

But for my fiance and I, we just stay positive and keep thinking that it will come in the right moment.

We just need to keep ourselves busy with other things to prepare for the big move.

Let's keep on praying that the visa comes at such time that we can still make it there for Christmas or New Year!

  14. Congratulations to my fellow June filers who got their NOA2 recently!

Gives me hope that we'll be getting ours soon too (hoping within this week, since my bday is coming up..no better gift!)

    Our NOA1 is June 23, 2011.

Some people who are after us got theirs already. Happy for you guys (and a wee bit jealous too!)

Let's keep on cheering each other on!

  15. Hi to all fellow couples with a Filipino fiance!

We are preparing for my interview at the US Embassy Manila. My USC fiance has an unusual employment history since he is self-employed but shares business ownership of a company which only started recently. Given this situation, we want to be completely sure that the financial support will be enough for a family of 3. I have read some threads related to this mostly saying that aside from the usual documentary proof (tax transcripts, etc), it's also important to show sustained income

I need to know if US Embassy in Manila accepts co-sponsor for K1 visa applicants. If anyone has the same experience, I'd appreciate it if you can share your thoughts on this. Any information related to our scenario will be helpful too.

    Thanks guys!

  16. I feel exactly the same way. I know that there is not much we can do but to pray and be more patient. It's just really hard especially now that important holidays are coming up. I completely understand why you are ranting. Others may see it as a waste of time and energy but I guess somehow it helps to have a release and hear other people sympathize with our situation.

We are on K1 visa and like you, my fiance just got back to the US after visiting me for a week. We have been waiting for 4 months and havent heard anything from the USCIS. I know they said that 5 months is the average waiting time but I can't help but be put down seeing other people get faster approvals. It's definitely different for every case but for all of us, it's torture to be kept waiting with an indefinite time for the finish line.

I'll keep praying for all of us who are still on the waiting end. Let's try to stay positive and heed others' advice who's already 'been there done that'. It may seem unbearable at this point but it will all be worth it in the end when we're finally with our loved ones. After that, you have forever to make up for lost time ;)
