Just curious.  Has anyone or group filed complaints with US Department of State regarding how long the CJ consulate is taking for granting interviews for spousal visas?  Time frame is horrible when compared to embassies in other countries.  Why is this happening and being permitted?

Just to give you another data point: we submitted our i130 to the embassy in Mexico City on June 24, received NOA1 via email on June 27, and received NOA2 (approval) on July 6. We haven't receive either of these notifications via snail mail. On July 17 we received the snail mail letter from the consulate with our case number (no email this time). The letter stated that the case number had been assigned on July 12.

One thing that may help is to check the mailing address you listed. I am a US citizen living in Mexico, petitioning my wife. I used our physical address for both her mailing and physical address, but I used my US address for my mailing address out of habit. NOA2 said that they would mail the embassy letter to the petitioner's address but they ended up mailing it to my mailing address in the States. Did you by chance specify a different address?

Thanks for the mention! Mine actually took 1.5 months (49 days) from submission to approval in 2017. Fastest I've seen on here using the timeline search was about 20 days, but there seems to be a lot of invalid data in there. There are definitely several legit ones in the 20 and 30 day range, but all of them happened more than 10 years ago. You can use this semi-configured timeline search to try to find recent cases in China.

The main reason ours was completed so quickly is because we kept checking the appointment calendar for cancellations and managed to move up our appointment several times. We would have actually been able to get it down to about 40 days but we figured it wasn't worth. We also got lucky and had minimal delays between steps.
