  1. There is still not activity(almost 11 months) by USCIS on our CR1 I-130 application. The processing times have become so long I am sure others will encounter this problem.  I had to renew my passport recently and now it has a new passport number.  My wife will also need to do the same with her passport.  What is the process to notify the Service center to update the change in these documents?   I am US citizen and wife is Mexican citizen.

USCIS to Close All International Offices By 2020

    AILA Doc. No. 19053131 | Dated May 31, 2019

USCIS will close its international offices, starting with Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and Manila in the Philippines. All offices, including the main district offices for the separate regions, are scheduled to close by March 10, 2020. Watch this page as AILA tracks which offices are closed.

According to BuzzFeed, in September 2019, the Monterrey, Mexico, office is projected to close, as well as the station in Seoul, South Korea. By the end of January 2020, the majority of the offices, including those in Mexico City, London, Athens, and Guatemala City, are slated to cease operations. All offices, including the main district offices for the separate regions, are scheduled to close by March 10, 2020.

  3. Can I cancel current CR-1 application or change it to DCF .

Timeline is getting longer everyday.  NSC just changed processing times to 11-14.5 months, CD Jaurez consulate has backlog so Interview appointments have 8 month wait, plus NVC time looking at at least 2 years plus for CR-1.  Wife is in Cancun (would file DCF in Mexico City Consulate as Cancun is in their area), we have been renting there for 4+ years, I have place in TX but spend a lot of time in Mexico.  We were married before in Mexico, got divorced now re-married.  I can get retired resident VISA for Mexico, had one for 8 years in past.

Any input appreciated.  Thank you in advance for your response.

  4. Welcome!!

To answer your question, the auto reply email from USCIS Mexico states:

    (Mexico.USCIS@uscis.dhs.gov)

If the U.S. citizen lives in within our jurisdiction (Mexican States of Campeche, Chiapas, Colima, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico, Michoacan, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatan, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora and Sinaloa), he/she should file Form I-130 USCIS Mexico City Field Office.

    Other Jurisdictions:

USCIS Ciudad Juarez Field Office: Chihuahua and Durango.

USCIS Monterrey Field Office: Aguascalientes, Coahuila, Leon, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.

You may also mail your application to our physical address:

Avenida Paseo de la Reforma 305 Room 118

    Colonia Cuauhtemoc

    Delegacion Cuauhtemoc

    Mexico DF C.P. 6500

So, it looks like you file in at the Mexico City Field Office at the address above. I hope that helps you! Good luck!

    Hi Guadmom,

Thank you for this information. I am a little confused because the website for the Mexico City Field Office states:

    "Form I-130

United States citizens who reside in Mexico with Migration Form (FM) - 2 or 3 may file a Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130) at the Mexico City District Office by mail or in person during normal business hours."

When did you receive the email from USCIS?

  5. CR1 and Stepchild? Does a Child Have Derivative Status? Reading the instructions for the I-130 I am confused if I need to file a separate form for the 10 year old son of my wife. I have not adopted him so he would be classified my stepchild. The instructions for filing I-30 are not clear on how to file for a stepchild. Thank you in advance for your response.

Please disregard this post. I have found the answer on this website.

Love VisaJourney.com! Lots of great information!

  7. DCF Where to file? Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara?

Reading through this forum it appears you can file DCF in the above offices. Is one quicker than the other?

I live in Ensenada, BC and it appears I am under the Service Area of the Mexico City Field Office BUT their web page information states: "United States citizens who reside in Mexico with Migration Form (FM) - 2 or 3 may file a Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130) at the Mexico City District Office by mail or in person during normal business hours."

Does it really matter which consulate receives my application?

  9. Hi-

Brand new here to the forum, looking forward to chatting with you all. I am a US citizen, married to a Mexican National. We live in Tequisquiapan, Queretaro. I've done a bit of research and looked over the application information and hope that we will be able to get my husband's green card without too much pain! :)

Here's the info as regards both the filing fee and mailing address. This information was received via email, directly from USCIS Mexico Field Office, and I quote:

Avenida Paseo de la Reforma 305 Rm 118

    Colonia Cuauhtemoc

    Delegacion Cuauhtemoc

    Mexico, DF CP 6500

$420 USD filing fee by Cashier's check or US Postal Money ORder, payable to DHS/USCIS. You may buy the Cashier's check at a Casa de Cambio where they're also known as "Cheque Propio". (WE cannot acept checks/money orders from HSBC bank).

Hope this helps you both. I'll be learning along with you all.

Is this the address I can use to send a packet DHL? Sorry but I do not have a lot of faith the Mexican Post Office.

  10. Hi Everybody,

Getting ready to file and will have a few questions. Going to go to the Tijuana Consulate next week to inquire in person but hope to get some insight from everyone on the board.

I am US Citizen married to a Mexican National. We live in Ensenada, B.C., I have my FM3, she has a Mexican Passport, her son does not have a passport and we are having a tough time getting him a passport(long story). Is a passport necessary for my step son? A few years ago I read on this board that it was not needed for step children but I can't find the post.

Thank you in advance for your wisdom and guidance.

  11. Hi everyone! APPROVED TODAY!!! So excited to fly home tomorrow and get out of this hotel. But it was all worth it. I had a little luck on my side everything went off without any surprises and I did the medical appointment and Interview really fast. I have posted a review if you are interested. Thanks again for all your help! Good luck everyone!

You are my hero! WOW only 97 days from day of filing to receiving your VISA! CONGRATS!!!!!

  12. DCF or no? Goal is to get VISA ASAP. ( Congrats chuk686 on your fastrack approval... WOW!)

Greetings all. I have been reading through the forum and trying to develop a strategy for getting my fiance and her son to the US. Posting in this forum as we can get married in Mexico and file DCF, actually leaning that way but could use some of your esteemed advice.

BACKSTORY - Have been living together since AUG 2010 in Ensenada, B.C. Mexico in a rental house with both names on the lease. I have been semi-retired for 10 years but want to to get back to the US to work, self employed. I do not have my FM-3 but can get it ASAP, do have a valid tourist VISA for Mexico that expires in mid June. I will use financial assets to prove ability to provide for them.

Assuming we get married in Mexico and I have my FM-3 I have the following questions:

What is the correct or best location for getting her CR-1 done ASAP? Mexico Df, Monterrey, Ciudad Juarez, or ????? The Us GOV website is not clear on what consulate would process a DCF from Baja California.

Our marriage would be recent, does this

    1. eliminate the financial savings of DCF?

    2. also a little confused on her status regarding recent married. Am I correct in understanding we will have to file AOS for her after 2 years? Does these mean she is also treated the same as someone who comes in under a fiance VISA?

Thank you in advance for your advice.
