Mehdi and I have known each other since we were children. Mehdi is my step-father's nephew who lives in Morocco. I was 7 years old when I landed my eyes on his perfect picture in a photo album. I never stopped thinking about him since. As kids we both had crushes on each other although we never met in person. My step-father had sent a photo of us to Morocco. Mehdi claims that photo made him fall in love with me :) My parents made plans to visit Morocco many times, but we never went. Then, finally in the summer of 2009, I got to meet him in person. Lucky for me, Mehdi picked us up at the airport. I was so shy and nervous, but when I laid my eyes on him I can swear it was love at first sight. During my stay, he took me out to view the city. Towards the end of my vacation, he asked me if I could picture myself being married to him and I said yes. He asked my step-father for my hand in marriage and he said yes. Their tradition is to ask the dad first then the dad asks the daughter and if she says yes, there's an engagement party! Of course, I said yes.
Saying goodbye at the airport was the hardest thing ever. Staying alone in the US didn't make things better. So, in the Summer or 2010, I went to visit him again. It was amazing to be with him again. Now, we can't wait to be together again and this time it will be forever :D
