  1. Hey guys. I received a call from my lawyer's office saying that when they requested transcripts of my tax returns that the IRS did not include my W-2 forms. Lawyer's office also said that they requested again to receive the W-2 forms but it could take weeks for that to come in. She said that if I called the IRS that there's a chance they could fax me the forms. Is this true? From what I read you cannot get W-2 copies, only information from the W-2's themselves. Any help?

  2. My wife and I have gathered all of our information proving we are a legitimate couple. I have:

    1) Our original lease and rental agreement

    2) A dept store statement showing she is an authorized user on an account

    3) Insurance forms I filled out last year showing my wife as my full beneficiary

    4) Printout of my verizon online account showing that she is an authorized user

    5) Statement from the bank showing she and I are on the same bank account

    6) Our Dish Network statement showing she is an authorized user on my account

Along with pictures from our wedding, engagement, reception, and a picture or two of us together outside of these ceremonies.

    Is that enough proof?

  3. Good morning to all,

I am in the process of gathering information to send to my lawyer.

-He said I needed a note from my employer stating my position, salary, and that my job is a permanent one. Is there a specific form that needs to be filled out, or can he write and sign a letter on a letter head from work with the information necessary?

-A letter from the bank stating that we have a joint account, when the account was opened, and the number of deposits in the last 12 months. Has anybody done this before? Does the bank give you trouble?

-Information showing we have joint accounts. Other than our bank account, we have a cell phone bill together, a Belk dept store credit card, and our lease. Is this enough evidence/information?

  4. Another reason we did not hire that lawyer was because he said "You might know where your parents live, but where are they right now? She could be shopping, at the grocery store, etc., therefore you don't know where she is." She is a little worried because her license still has her parents address on it. I always assumed that her parents status would never come up, because as you guys have said, it's about her and I, and no one else. She just wants reassurance that they will be fine.

  5. My wife and I had a consultation with a lawyer (who we chose not to hire), and they were giving us a questionnaire to fill out. Some of the questions had to do with my wife's parents (who are still here). Will her parents immigration status come up anywhere in the case? Interview? Forms? How do we answer questions about them? Her parents are elderly, and her father is in the late stages of Alzheimer's, so we want to make sure they are protected.

    Regards.

  6. Hello to all,

I've lurked around these posts for a few months, and since I am finally financially able to start the paperwork, I am going to be starting my wife's AOS. I wanted to sign up here because I notice how helpful and understanding/kind everyone is to each other. I am hiring a lawyer, and I would just like to talk to you guys about the process while I go through it for guidance and support.

I just had a few questions. First, I want to make sure my wife is eligible for AOS.

Her family came with a visitor's or business visa (can't remember which one) in the mid 90's. My wife has been here ever since she was 4 years old. Her passport is stamped showing legal entry. However, her mother lost my wife's I-94 card, but my wife still has her plane ticket with her name on it, so I'm hoping that would suffice. The lawyer asked me to bring my last 3 years of taxes (although I have only filed taxes for 2 years due to being unemployed during college). He also asked me to bring passports for my wife and I, birth certificates, marriage license, a copy of our ID's, and 8 passport photos (4 for each of us). My wife was issued a social security card when she was younger, and it is stamped "not valid for work." From what I have researched, we should be fine filing for AOS, correct?

I was also curious as to what the entire process is like. Typically, how often would I have to meet with the lawyer? It is difficult to get time off for work. Will we have to be interviewed? How much should I expect to pay?

I want to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to read/respond to this.

    Thanks guys! Pray for us.
