    Well that’s awesome!! I like it a lot. :)

Finally got my date - Nov 6th at 9am in Roanoke! What a relief, lol…😊

Well I am officially a US citizen!   The ceremony was hectic but great!   I registered to vote, updated my info at social security, and yesterday I applied for my passport!  The odd thing is at the passport appointment they wanted my marriage certificate.  I couldn't for the life of me figure out why since my naturalization certificate and drivers license are in my married name but I went and got it at home just in case.

Oh ok - lol! I was thinking maybe the timing had something to do with geographic location, but who knows? Congrats to your coworkers husband too! 😊

Check this out, I was wondering why they were having it at the Siegel Center!  https://news.vcu.edu/article/2023/09/vcu-to-host-naturalization-ceremony-on-sept-18-for-600-new-us-citizens

Is he allowed to go inside with me? I got it in my head that he wasn’t, but if he is then I’d like him to! I think I’ll just get him to quiz me on all of the questions lol…

I am not sure.  I have had conflicting information on that.  I do know my coworkers husband had his interview in March and the officer actually asked him why she wasn't there.  It's odd because she isn't even a citizen and hasn't applied yet.  She was at the hotel.  He still passed an all but I thought that was odd.  I guess I can offer to go get him out of the parking lot if they ask haha

Oh gosh, I mix a couple up too! I’m making Travis quiz me on the drive over tomorrow, so that it’s all fresh (my short term memory is great but long term is pretty bad lol). I’m trying to keep myself from being too nervous…😬

I'm gonna do the same with Chad.  Review the ones I get stuck on!  We have a few hour drive.  Is Travis going inside with you?   Chad wants to wait in the car.

I know…I’m afraid I’m going to forget something! But I’m packing tonight so hopefully we will catch everything…

I have everything sorted and ready to go!  Hopefully I don't forget anything!   I am so nervous!    I keep mixing up a few of the questions, just hope & pray I don't freak out and blank on everything!!   It will all be fine, I am sure!

I know this has probably been answered, but I’m getting nervous (interview is Tuesday). How long does the actual interview usually take?

haha.. I came here too.. so nervous!  I know the questions pretty good but I am afraid I will blank.   I am bringing originals of everything and tax transcripts.  Not sure what else to bring.

No idea, they somehow missed me. Maybe because my I-751 was transferred to NBC in the beginning of March (presumably when they were sending those out). I called multiple times and phone support confirmed that 48-month extension was never mailed to me. I also sent electronic requests for a missing form but they were ignored. Because it's still relatively new, there're no clear processes on obtaining one. Phone support can't help with it so they requested a stamp instead.

My extension was written on the receipt notice for the payment

I don’t imagine they’ll reject anything. From what I understand, the big deal at this interview is if we can speak English, and if we can pass the civics portion. It should be ok!

I hope they take my passport. I don’t have my original one with the visa in it, because it expired when I went home in 2016 to visit my father (he was sick). I renewed it before I came back, and Canada kept my old one…😬

If they ask just tell them why you don't have it.  It should be fine!  I don't know what I need to bring because I applied for 5 year rule since I had been here so long but maybe I should have did 3 year since I am still married.  I was confused about that.  I'll bring my husbands docs anyway, just in case they ask.

Yikes, that could be tight! I have only my expired passport but I’m not going to risk renewing it now unless I really have to (then I’ll rush it lol). Is it bad if it’s expired?

I think I'll be fine if they don't reject anything.   I was not happy with my picture but sent it anyway.  There was a small shadow on one side of my neck.  I should have asked the guy to redo it but I didn't at the time.  I don't know why I didn't just ask him to retake it!!

I don't think they will care if it is expired.  I do have an expired one that I can bring but it is not the one I used for the 2 trips I made home over the past 10 years.

Nope, mine says 1pm but I WISH it was 10am! Lol!

haha.. I want it over that's for sure!  I've been studying some but will have to get more serious!  Been using the flash cards on citizen now app.  I am freaking out because I sent my passport off for renewal to Canada!  No clue if I will get it back in time for the interview!!

That's AWESOME!  Congratulations!  One step closer. :)

I'm not big into history either but I downloaded a couple apps to quiz me on US civics.  I'm starting to do better with them.  The one I use most is called "US Citizenship Test 2023."  It runs you through practice quizzes, it'll show you the questions and will all around help you study.  I recommend it!

I'll have to check that one out.  I've been using citizen now.  I like it.   I refuse to do any multiple choice because the questions will not be in that format.  Now I have to see if hubby can drive me to  Norfolk, I hate driving places I am not used to!

We should, definitely!  My biometrics appt is scheduled to be in Charlotte on 3/7 - I'm down to a 10 month wait now!  Eeeek!

nice.. I wonder when mine will be scheduled!  I am so nervous about the civic questions.  I am not big into history or politics so I will have to start from scratch!

Oh my!! I just logged into my uscis account and my biometrics is for 3/9!!

It seems that once you receive your biometrics appointment or biometrics reuse letter the time goes down. Mine went down from 19 months to 9

I was reading the threads from December and Jan and some people have interviews scheduled already ! fingers crossed for a fast processing!

Nice!  I need some time to study but would like this over with LOL...  I've not been looking at immigration stuff since my conditions were removed way back!!  Looking at my timeline now it all seems like a dream!  I don't even remember how to updated my signature!

  14. Is there a program I can use to calculate our US taxes online or with a program? I am not sure what I need to file in addition to the normal US stuff. Is that something that is available through H&R block or Turbotax? I have no income from Canada for 2015. We have been using US-Canada Tax Experts, Inc. for 2012, 2013 and 2014. They do a good job but the cost is high and we would rather save that money.

  15. Because when you move to be with your fiance you can qualify for EI if you meet the other requirements. It starts when you get your EAD.

You need to get someone to do your returns because you'll actually have to file Canadian taxes as well. How did you get EI while living the US?
