  1. Hello,

My engagement ring is what you would call an eternity band. One with similar sized diamonds about half the circumference of the ring. In India there is no specific type of engagement ring. I liked the band and told my fiance that, besides I am afraid of having the ring with one big rock.It attracts too much attention.

Will the Co look at this like we are married? I know some people have been questioned as to why they don't have a ring. Of course I wont be wearing it at POE but My guess is that the interviewing CO would have more of an idea of Indian traditions and that we don't have any specific type of engagement ring. What do you'll think ? Thanks

  2. Hello All,

Our NOA2 got approved at the end of march. We have now started gathering evidence to submit for the K1 interview.

My question is that should we show all the evidence from the beginning of our relationship-- Including what we have already shown as proof of ongoing relationship for I 129F OR should we just add new evidence since we submitted our NOA2?

I am just worried that showing all evidence will make the file really huge since our phone bills for the past 1.5 years will run into hundreds of pages.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

  3. Hello All,

I would probably be having my visa interview in the next 2 months. My BIG problem is that I have a mild stammering/stuttering problem. In my daily life it is barely noticeable but anyone with some knowledge about stammering would know that the speech worsens under conditions of stress like the visa interview.

In all likelihood I will stammer during my interview. Would it be advisable to tell the CO before the interview starts about my speech impediment. I mean the last thing I need to worry about is my speech causing a misunderstanding between what I am trying to say and what the officer perceives. My family thinks I should just be honest about my problem as it will lessen my anxiety and reduce my stress levels.

I am perfectly fluent in English and have no problems while talking to other people. Any comments/advice will be appreciated. Thanks

  4. "Is residing in India and is his or her Passport was issued within past 6 months" then only Passport Clearance is required at the Passport Office. You can find the form online or you can personally go and apply for one. I suggest first you go ahead and get your new passport. You dont have to submit anything other than your old passport and the application and if required address proof or other documents. The Passport office conducts its own independent inquiry with the local police, if i am not mistaken.

Thank you for all your help Claytlin. I managed to submit my PCC application at the Police Commissioners office here. I will be applying for my renewed passport too and along with that the PCC from passport office.

One last question- Do I need the interview appointment letter for PCC from passport office? Thanks in advance.

  5. I got approved on 28th after waiting 7 months, my case has not yet reached NVC. I applied for my PCC from my local police station and they said i could come collect it sometime this week. I dont think you should have any problem getting a LOCAL PCC. I am going to the passport office tomorrow to apply for my Second PCC that usually takes 30 to 45 days. I figure by the time my Passport PCC comes my case will have reached the Chennai Consulate and ill be ready with all my documents. I dont understand why the local police are not agreeing, its not like they have much to do anyway. Plus If your passport expires in 6 months time yes you can apply for a new passport and you would only require a local PCC if i am not mistaken. Did you check the VFS website ?

Thanks Claytlin. I dont know why they are refusing to give a PCC without a letter from the consulate. The police officer said and I quote " we cannot keep giving everybody a PCC until we have an official reason to do so".

I will apply for my new passport soon so then I would just need a Police clearance from passport office. should I also submit the police clearance certificate form along with my reissue of passport application. Thanks so much.

  6. Hello,

This is probably my second post about PCCs. Please anyone having information help me out here.

I went to my local police station today for getting my PCC, I was told that they cannot proceed with my verification unless I have an invitation letter from the US consulate for my interview date. Now my worry is that sometimes I have heard people do not even receive a packet 3, they just download everything from the website. What should I do in that case? How do I go about getting a verification. Bribes don't always work in India. :P

Secondly, the Mumbai consulate website says that if you have been issued a passport in the past 6 months then you need a PCC only from local passport office. I am applying for a new ( reissue) of passport in this week. My passport expires at the end of this year and I want to have my new one ready before my K1 interview. My question is, in this case so I need to PCCs or just one from local passport office as a new passport was issued.

Just some background info- we are almost at the 6 month mark( 6 months next week) from getting our No1. NO2 should hopefully happen anytime soon. So I need to start gatering documents ASAP!

Any help will be appreciated. Thank You

  7. I see you made the same post some where else , and some body commented that the requirement to be notarized has been removed. I would suggest you look at the following link from the US embassy website in Delhi. They say it should be notarized.

    http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/ivpacket309k1.html

However, I could not find a page specifying notarization of affidavit of support on the mumbai consulate website. In my opinion, it is a good idea to directly contact the consulate and ask. I wouldn't take a chance with these sort of things. After such a long process you don't want to get held up because they were not notarized. Good luck.

  8. Hello All,

We are almost at the 5.5 month mark at USCIS.Hopefully we should get our NOA2 soon. My question is out of the two PCCs that I have to obtain, which one should I get first

As in do I apply for police clearance at local police station first and then at regional passport office? or vice versa? Any comments will be appreciated as I am a little confused as to how I should go about this. Any one who has acquired a PCC from Pune here?

  9. Oh tnx for this post I didnt know that we need 2.By the way, for my FBI police clearance/certificate application(cuz I used to work in Saipan) I went to the NBI old buildng to get this certificate known as "piano" 10 finger prints then they told me to get it at DFA main office for the authentication it took 6 working days.Is that the police certificate from DFA you are talking about?

I am not sure what you would need as a resident of Philippines. I think it would be a good option to ask this on your country portal. I know that this is the requirement for the beneficiary Indian citizen.

  10. So let me get the right, I have to get a PCC from the Passport Office and a PCC from the Local Police Station ??? so 2 Pcc's

Thanks Guys. I guess I will have to start working on my PCCs soon.

@ Claytlin- Yes I believe you have to get two PCCs( Passport office as well as local police station) if your passport was issued more than 6 months ago before the visa interview date.

  11. Hello Everyone,

Its been exactly 5 months today since we received our NOA1 from VSC. I am assuming it will be another few weeks or a month until we receive our NOA2. My question is, Do I need packet 3 for getting my police clearance certificate from the local passport office and the local police station? I read that these certificates are valid for one year. Can I go ahead and have them made now or should I wait until packet 3/NOA2 arrives? Thanks.

    Regards

  12. Thanks Deep2009. Also, if all other evidence is present will lack of voter id card result in getting a 221g? I will be having my interview at M umbai consulate.I wasn't aware that the voter id card was a essential document. I submitted my application for voter id today and was told it will be ready by July. I am assuming I will have my interview way before that. I am hoping you can help me out here. Thanks.

  13. Hello,

I have been following the posts on VJ for the past 5 months, i.e. since we filed our k1 in September. I finally decided it was time to register and make an account. I have two questions for people who have interviewed at either the Delhi embassy or any consulate in India.

I recently read that somebody was denied a k1 at the Delhi embassy. They were given form 221g and one of the requirements was having a Indian voter id card. I do not have one made. Is this something that is now mandatory for the beneficiaries from India? Also will having a letter of approval from both set of parents help make the case stronger? Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    K and A
