  1. Yahoo!!! There's a reason to celebrate!!! My interview was at 12:45 today and a few hours later after we left the Sansome Immigration Office in SF, I got an email and text notification that they have approved the card production!!! Thank you Lord!!! :innocent::dance::dance::dance::innocent:

Here's to share to everyone especially those having their interview in SF USCIS Office...

The officer was a female Japanese. Funny coz my husband had a dream last night that some kind of Asian was interviewing us and very soft-spoken, and he was right! LOLZ

First, she made us take an oath, next she made sure the information in the forms which we submitted were correct.

While she was writing notes, she was asking us a few questions like, when did you meet and how, why did your friend introduce you to her, who were at your wedding, where are your evidence of co-mingling of resources, do you have any lease agreement, wasn't your family upset that they were unable to attend your wedding, what are your future plans, did you meet her family already, when was your wedding, when did you open your joint account, do you have any other separate bank accounts??????????????????

Ha! She talks fast, so guys just don't get intimidated, don't get nervous, they were just verifying the infos on the forms you submitted, and just like to know that you are truly married and are doing the things that married people are comfortable doing like sharing bank account, medical, car and/or life insurance, living together, etc.

My hubby was nervous he even gave wrong answers! He said "yes" when asked if he already met my mom, when i already said not yet (we were in the same room, sitting side by side), and i said, "Baby, don't get nervous while I was touching his face", then I corrected the info he gave, and the officer understood that he was just prolly nervous. In the end she said, it's a slight of a good news that she is approving our petition, but that she still needs to review our papers some more... And then after a few hours, the confirmation was received! Good news indeed!

    Good luck everyone!!!

  2. Hi guys, I need your thoughts on this. So my interview will be on the 24th of May, and this fact is beginning to worry me, but I hope the IO will not delve too much on this. I am adjusting from a B2 visa, and when my husband and I got married, I was already on a 2-month overstay from a 6-month tourist visa. Well, I have established the following in my application. I arrived on May, 2010, for a vacation, it was summer time and vacation time from work in the country where I came from, so I took advantage of my off from work. I have a return ticket for June, just as classes would begin as I teach in my home country, in college to be exact. Been teaching in college in the same university for 7 years, and I have seniority if I may say, which when this change in circumstance emerged, ( I had a boyfriend back home who while I was here I've learned cheated on me, and this is not the first time, so while I was away, I sought the strength to finally break up with him and find some peace of mind) I thought of extending my vacation until I met my husband sometime in October (my fifth month) and we got along and I found joy, and the rest is history. There's still some more drama to this love story. We wouldn't have gotten married right away. I would have extended my stay (legally), for perhaps six more months. But since I was staying with my aunt who was against our relationship for some reason (like coz my husband isn't educated, and that he had a divorce with twins from the previous marriage), I felt controlled and wanted to break free, and well wanted to be together already. It was stressful being at my age (28 years old) being commanded what to do, and being nagged at in terms of what time to go home and scolded for having a date with my husband who was at that time still my bf of course. So sometime in November, as soon as my visa expired, we talked as this is becoming too complicated for us. I tell you, my aunt is not the easy to deal with. We talked with my husband's family and told them we were getting serious and wanted to settle down. They were supportive and after two weeks they came to my aunt's house, I was still living there at that time, and asked my hand in marriage. She wasn't okay with it, she admitted, but well, I had the strength to pursue it with my husband especially that his family is there to support us. So it happened, it was difficult still having to stay there for a month more, since the wedding was planned for January 2011. My side of the family did not attend (none of them with my aunt's prodding perhaps). I don't mind. For as long as my mom who is in my home country approved of my marriage. That's what is important for me. So now, I am happy and at peace, aunt-free. LOL.

So my dilemma is, would the IO take it negatively that we got married after just 3 months of knowing each other? Having known this story, hw would you react to it, if you were the IO? Thanks so much. :):):) I'm just anticipating the scenario during the interview.

  3. What is the date printed on the green card? Is it the date it expires or the date it was given. I am confused, what I am asking guys is, if from the 2 year-conditional permanent resident card, if you say three years for those married to US citizen, that means after the expiration of the two year conditional permanent residency card, I wait another three years? or just one more year? thanks

  4. You need to bring everything that letter says.

Thanks, so they are also asking for custody papers for children of spouse not living with us. What is this custody papers they are talking about? My husband and his ex agreed on a no-fault divorce and settled amicably in terms of their children's custody and financial support. My husband did not have to register through the child support agency but gives a monthly financial support to his ex wife for the children. In my husband's divorce document, it stated that the kids will be under their mother's custody and that financial support will be discussed by both parties in the absence of a court adjudication, so no case will be filed in this regard. So, will this divorce document suffice, for the purpose of expressing the custody and financial obligation of and to the children? Many thanks.

  5. He doesn't have a birth certificate at all? I imagine that was necessary when he went through the naturalization process, where is it? They may not ask for it but I have heard of it being asked for in the past along with the naturalization papers, so you really need to bring EVERYTHING it says if you don't want your AOS delayed.

No, the birth certificate is not a requirement in the application for naturalization... It must have been assumed that these documents have already been recorded and established while he was still under an immigrant petition.

  6. My husband is my petitioner, and his two kids from his ex-wife are both American citizens living with their mother, they are not going to be petitioned, so I thought this is only necessary for those whose step kids will be petitioned by the petitioning US citizen. Thanks anyway.

Also, they are asking for my husband's Birth Certificate. But he is a naturalized US citizen. Will the Certificate of Naturalization suffice? He doesn't have his Philippine birth certificate with him...

  7. Hi, I will be interviewed on May 24, 2011 and the USCIS letter stated all the documents that needed to be brought. My question is:

    1. Will they look for the document stated therein one by one...

    2. My husband is divorced with 2 kids from his ex. The letter also asks for the birth certificate of any child born out of a previous marriage. Is this really important? or is this something that can be overlooked?

    Thanks so much...
