:help: Hi guys,

Situation: Filed I-130 for my husband in New Delhi. Currently have a Date for Visa Interview in Mumbai end of April 08. They gave me Packet 4 now. I am filling out I-864 along with I-864A's (parents filling out).

I got more questions about Affidavit of Support. I dont make too much money to truely sponser my husband, so my dad (also my mom) is going to support him since they have income. I know i have to fill out I-864 regardless wether i make money or not.

The question is: Does my dad need to fill out I-864 as a Joint Sponser (Part 1, D) or I-864A Contract between sponsor and household member?

My mom should fill out I-864A? 80% sure about that.

:bonk:

Thank you in advance for any suggestions and answers!!!

Hitman,

If you and parents live in the same household then they can file I-864A. Otherwise, one of them will use I-864 and the other parent will use I-864A. If one parent has sufficient income to sponsor, I wouldn't bother having another parent file I-864A, though. With sufficient income, there is no need to show bank balance, which in most families will be held in joint accounts, thus necessitating use of joint sponsor with the other spouse.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Sanjiv Patel
