Currency Transfer

Dear all,

I am wanting to transfer some funds from the US back to the UK so that I can finally pay off my student loan, etc.

Ordinarily, I would have gone to HiFX as I have used them in the past. However, I tried to contact HiFX USA on Friday morning to get something sorted but they were all out, so the reception took my name and number and promised to call back within 15 minutes. 7 hours later, they did call back which I wasn't too impressed with and so I am looking at any other options there might be.

Does anyone use another currency transfer service that they would recommend?

I used InterchangeFX to transfer some funds last friday (Hopefully the cash will arrive in The States today!)

They seem pretty good so far, they answer the phone quickly and will give a quote straight away, then they'll email the forms straight out to you. I got a good rate too.

It sounds like it's all Australians that work there though, but dont let that put you off!

MoneyCorp I have my pension transfer each month with them. Offices in London and Florida.

I used interchange a couple of times and they are pretty good. Now i use Citibank though - i have set up a US$ "savings account" with them which enables me to transfer money back and forth without being charged a penny and with rates just as good as i was getting with interchange.

I would definitely recommend the Citi option - it was set up all online too so real easy.

Thanks guys, your advice is much appreciated. Of course, I've picked the absolute right time to make the transfer as the US dollar is currently in the toilet, oh well!
