How do you like your new American hometown?

My fellow immigrants,

I just arrived here in America and everything is going well for me so far. I am bored right now, though, for I’m alone in the house as my man won’t be home from work till around 6:30 PM (Pacific). Our life together is on the right track, sweet and happy, and I presume that your relationships are too.

So, I won’t ask you how everything goes but I’d like to ask you how do you like the community or town that you have settled in. In my case, Cave Creek, Arizona fits my lifestyle. Cave Creek is a small bedroom community in the Desert Southwest, just outside Phoenix, with a wide open sky and a landscape replete with saguaros and other cacti. And on a tranquil night, you may hear a coyote disturbing the silence as it serenades the moon and the stars. It’s dry and hot here, much warmer than my native Baguio City, but I can manage the heat. I love it here.

My girl, Pilar, loves it here in El Paso. Specially when she first noticed that the phone book listed a huge bunch of Filipino names like Alvarez, Gonzales, Rodriguez, Chavez, Santos, Cruz, etc.! I had to remind her that Divisoria (Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) is just a few kilometers away from the house. Seriously, she very well likes it here, and she now prefers fajitas and enchiladas over pancit and chicken tinola. :star:

Nice post Mariquita. I would love to hear coyote making noises in the middle of the night. I wonder what do they sound like? Are they really ugly like the Coyote ugly word? LOL We only got opossums here who make weird noises behind our property sometimes. But the sounds of the blue jays and squirrels make are music to my ears.

I fell in love with Sonoma County the first time I saw it because of the wide and open space here. In our neck of the woods, vineyards are everywhere as far as your eyes can see and the free wine tasting is an added bonus if you are playing tourist, dotted Redwood trees, Douglas fir trees and Oak trees along the hills. It's breathtaking. My husband doesn't seem to appreciate the beauty of the place where we live. But I do. Like you, I like the temperature in the Spring and Summer here in Northern California. I think I finally come home to Mr. Bill. :star:

My husband lives in a small community here in Rhode Island (which happened to be the smallest state of USA for some people who always ask me where is this located). My first stop in this area was Massachusetts last 2007. I met my husband (who's from here) so I moved in his house. I like the weather here now especially if I see rabbits, squirrels, cute chipmunks etc. I also like summer of course (which happens to be real hot like the Philippines) and of course fall (where the trees turned different colors). But I also like the place of my sister (Palmdale and Lancaster California). I guess I am the type of person who easily adjust to where I am. I hope all of you like your American hometown also.
