New Passport

Hello Vjers,

I need some advices all of you here about my passport, I was apply and got my passport before a few days my husband arrive here to see me and we got married. Of course my old family name i use at my passport i got since we are not yet marry that time, but now that we are married and I use my Husband name we planning to get another new passport of mine with my husband name. I`ve been go to the DFA (here in our place since they have a yearly visiting ) to change my name at my new passport but some of the people there working in foriegn affairs told me that i need to attend seminar first at the CFO in Cebu or Manila before i will going to apply again to change my new name in my new passport.

The question is, Do i really need to attend the seminar at CFO before i change my new family name into my new passport? I had a complete requirements already since i was asking in DFA Manila about that matters. Bring the passport, new Passport Id, birth certificate and Authenticated Marriage License If i attend the seminar at CFO and since we required us to attend Seminar at CFO do i have a advance seminar than that even we never know yet our Interview date? I dont want to wasting our Money and time, so if there have any cases similar like this, I need your advices please...

Oo! You have to attend CFO seminar to change your name to hubbies name on your passport.

Take the petition approval notice [NOA2] with you.

Once you take the CFO seminar its good for a lifetime.

Don't think CFO cares about original NOAs. Take the NOA1 with you naman!

You just have to show you are in the process of immigrating.

Be sure and take ALL other documents related to your petition. Especially divorce decree if you man is divorced.

My wife lives in Gen. Santos, Mindanao and all she did was renew her passport in Davao with here new married name. They asked for an official NSO marriage certificate and that was it. They did not tell her that she needs to attend any seminar.

Because Mindanao is too far from Metro Manila or Cebu where CFO seminars will be held, so they waived the CFO requirements because its not practical to do it just to renew the passport. But she will be obliges to attend CFO before she live for the US.
