Filing EAD locally after AOS NOA?

Are there any recent stories of this working? The AOS guide says that it may be possible, particularly in california (we're in AZ), to apply in person for the EAD upon receipt of the NOA from the AOS application. We're keen to keep my fiance working, as I'm sure everyone is!

USCIS has stopped accepting walk in EAD filings well over a year ago. You can only file for EAD by mail through the Chicago lock box, or ON-Line.

No local EAD have been issued since Sept 2006.... the only options you have is to mail in the application including a copy of the NOA1 for AOS or e-file for the EAD on-line....

What about walking in at the chicago office? I'm about to move there, can't we hand the application packet to a living person at the chicago office?

The Chicago local office and the Chicago Lockbox are not the sane place.... so no you cand do a walk-in and hand it to anyone... you will have to mail it or do it on-line...

i thought i read somewhere that an EAD is stamped onto the I-194, and to work for the first 90 days of the visa all you need to do is get a SSN and a job!?

The Op was asking about filing for EAD after they have filed for AOS.... that EAD is valid for 12 months... The temp EAD (90 Days) given at some POE's once it has expired it is useless it can not be extended or renewed...

Only for K-1, and only as a few POE, like some border crossings with Canada, and perhaps JFK airport.
