$100 draft at VFS office

Hi all,

Do we need to submit the $100 (rs. 4200) draft at the VFS office with the documents 10 working days prior to your interview or is the draft to be submitted at the embassy on the day of the interview?

The VFS office will not let you pay the $100 draft. It is only given at the Consulate on the day of the interview.

When submitting the documents at the VFS office, what you have to pay is the Rs 365/-- courier fee.

By the way, I have read that they prefer the Demand Draft to be from HSBC or Citibank. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone going thru New Delhi know where HSBC is located? I am going to look online for this info as well.

My hubby had his interview in Chennai. He had the draft from State Bank of India and he was informed that they prefer HSBC draft. Luckily they accepted the State Bank draft anyway, though.

If you are in aposition to send 100 USD in cash. That would be the best option. Otherwise you can go for the DD.

They accept USDs in US embassies.

I dunno. Our Packet 4 from Chennai stated:

"FEES: Visa fees are not refundable; they must be paid through a rupee bank draft drawn on a nationalized or foreign bank. The bank drafts must be in Indian Rupees (Rs. 4600/-), issued in the name of “American Consulate General, Chennai,” and should be payable in Chennai."

No mention of cash being acceptable.

You could reconfirm what they accept through an email to the Consulate.

An applicant can also pay any immigrant visa fee in cash or demand draft in U.S. dollars at the Embassy or a consulate.

I would still verify with them to make sure but this is the info they have posted.

for cr1 we only need to pay courier fee at vfs....right?if not then wht else?do we need to pay anything on the day of the interview?
