I am a US citizen and i am currently trying to get my son here.I just paid the visa processing fee of $380 and i am waiting on the ds-230 forms from NVC.

Question is.Can i bring my son over here now and continue the process in the us at this stage.

My son is 15 and lives in Scotland. His home life is getting bad and he is begging me to come over now.I know we are not far from the finish line but it is hard to tell him no.

Any advice would be great.

Thank you

Could visit on the VWP, but not overstay the visit period, and will need to return to home country for interview.

Be aware may be turned back at the POE

Thanks for the advice. Why may he be turned back at the POE.If he stays within the 90 period.

The POE can decide that son does not have reason to return to home country and deny entry, it does happen.

If he is in school it might be worthwhile getting a letter from his principal saying that he is still enrolled in that school and is returning on X date. Anything that proves he still has current ties to the UK.

Does he have grandparents over there as well? Maybe a letter from them detailing that he still resides in Scotland and will be returning after his visit. These things may help your son, should he be detained at POE for further questioning about his intent.

I would say to contact your local Congressman and get them involved, being that he is still a minor in the eyes of the United States, his case would actually have presidence over say, and an unmarried child over the age of 18.
