More 'nanny-city' than nanny state - cities being more likely to pass weird laws like this rather than at the state or national level. For example in Sierra Madre (upscale LA neighbourhood) an unwashed car will get you a ticket, or that other city which passed a law prohibiting men with mustaches from kissing women in the street (on the dumb laws website). Still - no guarantee that this will go through. That part of LA has more problems to contend with than worrying about the food people eat.

Now that I think about it – I don't think is all that stupid. The city is well within its rights to decide which businesses set up shop in their boundaries.

I have been saying for the longest time that the simplest way to get people to eat healthier is to put smaller doors, width ways, on fast food restauraunts. It would keep the fat people out because they wouldn't be able to get in. When we were on Honeymoon we spent a day in Miami and saw a very, very obese woman in a motorised scooter/wheelchair thingie begging for change outside McDonald's . I am sure that obesity is a disease which is why chunky people need help to fight it hence skinny doors on Macadees and the like... Edited September 12, 2007 by LondonGooner
