Co-sponser question

I am a Canadian, and my fiance is American.

I was wondering if my sister's husband can co-sponser me. He lives in Canada with his wife, but he has dual citizenship, American/Canadian.

Can he sponser me if he doesn't currently live in the USA? If so, how do we calculate his income? Can we calculate it in Canadian funds?

I haven't heard of a sponser not living in the states, but I really think you would have to convert his Canadian dollars to American if you can use him. It's about 15-20% less than what he is making to go to american. I rate the exchange rate cause I will loose so much when i move.

ok so i just re-read this and you are not the american, and you would probably know the exchange rate and will be loosing a lot too when you move. I'm not going to dig myself a hole as i could be wrong and post about co-sponser.

I wish you luck as a fellow Canadian!

Hi Silverbutterfly, You live in Canada too? Which consulate are you going through? I live in Vancouver, so that answers that question.

Yeah, Both my sister and me fell in love with American men. What are the chances? I know about exchange... Not too much fun when you exchange it, although our dollar is getting higher every day....

The answer is very clear in the form instructions and the FAQs for the Affidavit of Support:

The Sponsor(s) must be US citizens or Permanent Residents who are domiciled in the US.

That almost always means 'living in the US'.

Yes, even this last one.. stuff in there that not even your USC knows.....

Hi, I live in London, Ontario and I'm going through Montreal. your lucky u live in the same place as consulate. Yes our dollar is going up and I'm sooo glad. I cheer it on everyday, hoping by the time i leave it will be equal. fat chance but i hope.

I thought that the answer would be like what meauxna said. It would be better for someone your american fiance knows to co-sponser and i have heard it looks better if that person lives in same city or area.
