Hmmm... I could be wrong here but I don't think he's the one who brings Australia into every, single bloody thread...

Bit of an overstretch don't you think? 6% of my post mention Australia.. Yes the country I am from..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Friends lived in Santa Monica. We went all over the place.

You didn't like Santa Monica???

What's there not to like?

Well yes that suburb was nice. Downtown LA, Hollywood etc was quite run down.. For me it is more the general attitude of people in LA, which is the worst part.

Mexico is not a rich first world country is it???

Fine, pull the list of top destinations for British expats, and you'll find that most

of them stay within the EU. Germany, Spain, France.

Why? Because it's easy. No visa required - you can just up and move there.

The report shows that Britain has more people living abroad than almost any other country. The top 10 countries where Brits live, together accounting for around 75 per cent of all Brits living abroad, are:

# Australia 1.3 million, equivalent to 2 per cent of UK population

# Spain 760,000

# USA 680,000

# Canada 600,000

# Ireland 290,000

# New Zealand 215,000

# South Africa 212,000

# France 200,000

# Germany 115,000

# Cyprus 59,000

But you keep saying "oooh 40 million Americans are in poverty", "America is falling apart",

"unemployment everywhere", "public debt is going to kill us all", yet 40 million of Americans

is less than 14% -- the same number of people in poverty in Australia, the unemployment

rate is the same as Australia, and the U.S. national debt is 60% of our GDP vs Australia's 90%.

Number_6 I am not here because I have always wanted to be here. I am here because my wife is from the US.

We are currently working on our Visa to migrate back to AUS. The process is much more complicated and thorough than the US marriage visa..

Spain + Ireland + France + Germany + Cyprus = 1,424 million

There is absolutely no comparison to Australia in terms of poverty. The number of benefits you get there is not even funny.

  • Unlimited unemployment benefits.
  • Deferred payment schooling.
  • Payments while you study
  • Free healthcare
  • Disability allowances
  • Pensiononers buy medication for $3.25
  • 4 weeks paid vacation leave
  • 8 months paid maternity leave
to name a few..

The US also has a much more diverse economy. 75% of the Australian economy is services (CIA fact book).

Lets not forget its abundant resources..

You're not kidding...

What is your point.. At the time it was easy to move here than AUS; and much cheaper.
