For the CFO, I have questions regarding the FBI clearance for the petitioner:

1) Does the FBI clearance have an expiration date? Will it be ok if I get one a few months early? It seems like this only lasts for a day?

2) Will an FBI clearance suffice, or do I need a clearance from the local police as well?

3) Does the FBI clearance need to be apostilled?

It wasn't even requested for my now spouse at her cfo. I don't have any background issues, but I suppose you can run check on yourself and have it ready just incase.

I have only seen police reports requested for K-1, but that doesn't mean they won't ask for one.  The FBI report is what everyone I know of has used.  The statement you quoted does not mean it is only good for one day.  It means the background check only covers the period before the date it was processed.  Since they only take about a day to get, I would wait until close to CFO time to be sure it is current enough for them.

No need for local police report

No need to be apostilled.  It can be emailed and printed.

My wife was asked for my police clearance when she was doing the cfo for her k-1. The councilors don't seem to really understand how the admin systems work in the USA, so it seems that you can get a local report from a city or county enforcement authority. I believe there was one report in here from a user that used a city report successfully.
