Hello. My interview is coming up Yay! I’m a F2B category (unmarried son over 21 of a lawful permanent resident). And my 4 years old son is included as a derivative in my case. We entered the U.S. through the CHNV program.

I have a few questions:

  1. Does my father (the petitioner) need to come with me to the interview? The letter doesn’t say clearly, but I heard that sometimes USCIS wants the petitioner present.
  2. Can my sister serve as my interpreter at the interview? It’s not clear if family members are restricted. She is a U.S. citizen, fluent in English and our native language, and not involved in my case. I didn’t list an interpreter on my application because I filled it out myself with help from family. I can read and write English okay. But when someone speaks too fast, I sometimes struggle to understand — and trust me, with my accent, most of the time people don’t know what I'm saying either!

Has anyone had a similar experience at the Philly office? I want to make sure I’m prepared and don’t get turned away or cause any delay.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
