Hi!

We are doing DCF through Frankfurt due to my (American citizen) job.

My husband had his interview a few weeks ago and the officer verbally told him he would be approved, but we were missing one document. He was given instructions to send an email with the document and the visa would be issued. He went home and emailed the document through the instructions in Visa Navigator and it's now been a few weeks with no response. In CEAC it says the case hasn't been touched since his interview date. They still have his passport.

Anyone been through something similar? We are starting to get nervous, as the automatic emails say they won't process any emails, however we weren't given any paper slip or any other instructions other than "email it to me today and you'll be good to go"...

thank you for replying, unfortunately they dont have a phone number

Do you mean they won't answer your query via phone? Assume you've tried the number on their website? https://de.usembassy.gov/contact/#frankfurt

thank you for following up, we tried that number but it's not used and they say all communication through email - also they said no follow up status checks if it hasn't been 6 months, I just dont know how long they plan to hold his passport for

military record, my husband comes from an EU country that's very relaxed and he was in basic training for 4 weeks before leaving due to a knee injury that needed surgery. So he didn't have a formal certificate but we got a termination letter confirmation and sent it via email within an hour of coming home from the interview. what's weird to me is almost everyone in 221g/ap gets some sort of slip, we got nothing and they have his passport

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Chile

If you got verbal tentative approval and they have his passport I’d make a congressional inquiry since they have his passport and they gave you nothing explaining what you were missing.

Timeline isn’t necessarily outside the norm but the lack of documentation on what’s going on is. Add on it’s DCF for a job, having your senator ask what’s going on could be useful in case it fell through the cracks. Worst that can happen is your senator tells you it’s in AP.

we sent a formal status check request via email and they responded within 12 minutes that they were waiting on the documents to arrive via post... even though my husband got instructions to send it via email - so glad I followed up!! they were sent overnight so hoping for good news in a few days
