Ukrainian Foreigner Passport Renewal at Houston Embassy . Need help with Documentation and Fee Clarification

Hi everyone,

I’m a Ukrainian citizen currently residing in the U.S. I initially entered on a K-1 visa and have since submitted all the required documentation. I got my adjustment of status (green card expedition) and just waiting for be able to apply for my U.S. citizenship interview (couple months left).

I have an upcoming international work trip, but unfortunately, my Ukrainian Foreigner passport will expire before that date. I was lucky to secure an appointment at the Ukrainian Consulate in Houston (other consulates had a 3–5 month wait). I will be traveling from another state for this appointment.

However, I have a few questions and was hoping someone who has gone through a similar process could help:

  1. What documents are required to renew a Ukrainian foreign passport at the Houston Embassy? The embassy website (especially in Ukrainian) is quite difficult to navigate, and I want to ensure I bring everything needed.

  2. What is the exact fee? The site lists $130 for the service, but it also mentions there may be additional fees. Do you know what these could be?

  3. Payment method: I understand they only accept a money order or cashier’s check and do not accept credit cards or personal checks. Since I can’t update the amount once issued, how should I handle this if the actual total isn’t clear?

  4. Name on passport: Can I keep my old surname on my renewed Ukrainian Foreigner passport, or will they require me to update it to match my new married name?

Any insight from others who’ve recently renewed their passports at the Houston Consulate would be incredibly helpful. I just want to make sure I don’t make a long trip and end up being turned away due to missing paperwork or fees.

Thanks so much in advance!

I also want to mention that I've been trying to get in contact with them via email and voicemail's but haven't had a response from anything.
