K1 visa processing time - December 20204 - Canada Montreal

Hello here is our story. We submitted 129F in end of May 2024 USCIS approved it in early September, but case did not actually get sent to NVC till late Nov of 2024 with out any explanation, even though we sent multiple inquiries to follow up. The NVC stage seemed rather smooth, but than again the Montreal embassy people are saying for Canadians its literally 6 months to get an interview and its really confusing to me. I see people in Canada that applied same month as me and had their interview already a month ago. If your Embassy experience is from Canada please share your story. It does not make sense why some peoples cases would literally take twice as long. Any idea why would take Montreal 6 months to give an appointment ?

Easiest way to see others' timeline on here in relation to interview is, go to immigration timelines, filter by country - Canada, click advanced search then sort by interview date descending. Then you'll see all the dates; noa2, nvc, embassy and interview date.

 

 

Edit; upon doing this myself for Canada seems as if the average / shortest you can see is just under 2 months between Consulate received to interview date.

Montreal used to be a LOT longer than 6 months to give an appointment! It was a year plus but has sped up hugely recently. It's not done on the date you applied though, you can see the current wait time/scheduling on this page - https://ca.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visa-process/

We may not know how fast USCIS would be in 20204, but Montreal is pretty slow in 2024.

 

I'd believe Montreal embassy staff, they have first hand experience handling the cases.
