Hello everyone,

I had my interview today at the London embassy (June 18), and after a few standard questions, the consular asked me if I had my CV. I was not, and he handed me a green slip asking me to email my CV to the email address mentioned on the slip. What worries me is that he returned my passport and all supporting documents.

Any similar experience or guidance on the expected timeline?

Hello guys,

I received an email yesterday from the Embassy asking to fill out the DS-5535 Form and answer some questions in the email (which were basically the same questions in the Form). So, yes, the combination of AI and my birth country triggers the security check. It will take whatever it will take, but I thought of giving an update from those who may encounter a similar situation.

My EB2 experience - finally found the time

Nationality: Nigerian (at application) and later British (naturalisation after application)

Marital status: Married, no kids yet

Submitted application May 26, 2023 (normal processing)

I-140 approved June 14, 2023 (what a time to be alive)

DQ'd: December 2023 (estimate, as it may have been late November 2023)

IL gotten April 22 2025

Medicals May 28, 2025 - had to take some shots as I have no records of my childhood vaccination. Spent £1k+ for myself and my wife (some price).

Document review at Embassy May 28, 2025 (after medicals) - my birth certificate was rejected (issued by the local government at my time of birth) so I had to get an attestation of birth that was issued by the NPC (peculiar to Nigeria). Also updated my citizenship to British from Nigerian (no sneer, just wanted to keep everything in one passport). I was also given my docs which were sealed in a clear bag and told not to open and bring on interview date.

Note - when you get to the embassy after medicals or for interview, just proceed to the window and then you will be asked to proceed to the entrance. Do not queue.

Interview June 11, 2025

Called to the booth first time to check docs. Collected my birth attestation to make a copy.

Called to booth second time, asked to raise hands and swear and then asked 3 questions.

Questions - just 3.

Q1. What is your specialty - use of AI in optimising energy resources across the value chain.

Q2. Why do you qualify for the EB2 - I hold a PhD in Computer Science with specialty in Artificial Intelligence.

Q3. How did you meet your wife - Do I answer of she does (VO says anyone). So I let my wife answer (I had to interject as she was painting me black. I needed to redeem myself - laughed over it).

Visa approved and told we would get docs in 1 week

Visa status went to "Administrative Processing" and changed to "Issued" the following day.

Received tracking from embassy and Royal Mail June 16

Received docs (passport with stickers and sealed documents from the embassy) June 17

Sticker valid till November 2025 so booked tickets to travel early November 2025

Missus wakes up on the wrong side of the bed June 25 and insists we MUST travel early July (no longer November).
Pay for Green Cards June 25
Book flights to US June 25 for July 4 travel (decided to make it memorable) after missus gets 1 week leave from work place.

Land Colorado July 4, 2025 from LHR
Queue length is moderate (no separate queue for GC holders)
Meet border official and say we are fresh GC holders (no visitors - I no longer need to have a reason to be in or return to this great country!)
Asks for our doc from Embassy (after seeing we are fresh outta Compton). We give border official the docs and we are taken to a room
Nice ladies there inspect our sealed docs from Embassy to ensure we haven't tampered them.
Proceed to open and then document us (perhaps enumerate us).
Stamp our passports (as proof of GC for 1 year) and wish us well
Pick up our bags from Carousel and proceed to hotel.

Over the last 3 days, we have gotten our SSN (we had gone to the office on our appointment date when SSA official takes our form and on registering us says our numbers are already available) and phone numbers and now sorting out accommodation.

Hope this helps.

Comment - I sincerely thank everyone who has dropped one comment or the other here. I was a silent reader but enjoyed all the tips. Matter of fact, this platform made me realise how seamless and stress free the process could be and that helped in lowering my blood pressure.

Good insights and thanks

That's good to hear, so there's progress.

@iaiyam1 Still awaiting IL. My prority date become current in July's visa bulletin with DQ'd date Nov 2024, F3 category . I don't think anyone has received IL since 10th June .

Some categories may well have, but remember that immediate family get priority for interviews, then employment based, then it'll be family preference categories. There will also be a slow down in interviews with the summer with less staff and an increase in student visa processing to factor in. But hopefully not too much longer.

Quite normal. They’re usually only sent once a month and we’re only half way through.

@iaiyam1 No im back on the waiting train, my date retrogressed in the latest visa bulletin

Dont think ill be waiting for long till im current again, but ill be following here to see how long it takes for people to get interviews this month

It’ll likely be October now with the limit being reached soon. But then once the quota has reset you should get an IL straight away.

Good luck.

I’d say that’s feasible. Good luck!
