My wife has a green card, with the conditions removes (10 year). We will be leaving in September for 1 year while I conduct research for a grant I received from the State Department. I want to file for a re-entry permit but I am worried about the timeline, specifically getting her biometrics done, before we leave. I know we can get the actually re-entry permit at a consulate outside the US, which will be near where we are staying. Does anyone have an idea how long old biometrics can be applied to a case like this? She last got them done in 2017, I believe.

I wanted to try and call the local USCIS office to ask, but I have run into a wall there -- is there a different number I could call to find out? I just want to verify feasibility before I file a $585 application fee.

Thanks!
