K-1 Visas Only

I have read one too many times about people that "can't afford" to send their fiancee back when things don't work out, and so many are complaining about the fee increases for AOS.

I think I have a suggestion that may actually be a viable solution to the problem.

1.) I would suggest that the appropriate government agency collect from the petitioner upon approval of a K-1 visa the cost of a return trip flight (plus 20%) for the beneficiary to be deposited into an interest bearing account.

2.) From the account balance the cost of adjustment of status be removed upon filing of the appropriate paperwork.

3.) Once AOS is approved, the remaining balance (plus interest) be returned to the petitioner by check in the same envelope.

4.) Failure to file the necessary paperwork for AOS within the given timeframe (without explanation) would prompt the government agency to contact the petitioner and the deposited money could be used to pay for removal proceedings and return flight.

5.) If at any time within 90 days of entry into the United States the petitioner or beneficiary contact the agency to request that the beneficiary leave the country, a ticket be purchased with the balance and he/she could be on his/her way.

I really don't want to foot the bill for these people with my tax dollars.

Any additional suggestions are welcome.

Any insight concerning who to contact with suggestions of this type would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

CB
