i130 for parents over 1 year past processing date

Please help... I filed for my parents April 2019 and the case is at Texas Processing Center. We are now over a year over the "processing time"  and calling every week speaking with tier 2 officers is not helping. We have already sent a letter to the senators office asking for help. Our rfe was issued in December to which we responded to in January and since then there have been no updates! Our status on the website says that "An rfe was issued in march" but we did not receive another rfe and officers say that it is just when the date of the RFE expired originally. Every status inquiry we get a response "your case is with adjudicating officer, wait for a response within 60 days" but there is no response. We don't know what else to do? Should we hire a lawyer at this point?

That’s very frustrating what you are going through, especially when other petitions are getting approved within a few months. We’re you able to confirm that they received the documents you submitted for rfe? Did you send them in or uploaded?

Yes! Super frustrating, I see cases being approved within 4 months and we are stuck with no answers. It took months and 10 calls to officers for them to even confirm that the RFE response was received but they did not update the website still! We mailed everything in, since at the time we did not know about the online option or it wasn't even an option when we first applied.

I’m not sure if layer will actually help in this case, but what I would do meanwhile is to get all documents for NVC stage ready and also after ban on IR-5 expires (hopefully on Jan 1 2021) you can request an expedite at NVC because you have a valid reason for it since it took way beyond normal processing time frame.

Thank you! I did not realize that we would be able to request an expedite from NVC. I just hope we make it to that point. I feel like maybe our files got lost since it took forever to even get clear answers as to whether RFE responses were received or not...
