we're in the process of completing the application for the I-601 (fiance has 2 CIMT convictions).

Lawyer instructed us that fiance must write a personal statement. This was the the most difficult part.

The wording has to be very careful. It must convey strong regret, humble desire to be granted a visa, and describe the events that led to the convictions honestly and apologetically, and describe how his life has changed and he would never do it again.

To describe the events was difficult... as there is much more to the events than what is stated on the court records, and he felt that the convictions were wrong, but did not fight them at the time. It had to truthful and stated in a way that did not sound like he was making an excuse or defending himself in any way....too late for that. I have been translating back and forth between the lawyer and my fiance... it's finally done and hopefully we can file soon.

Has everyone else included the apology letter with their application?
