USA Passport in processing - but may need to leave in a moment's notice - what to do?

Hey all - Not sure this is the best place to post...

I submitted my wife and I's USA passports (we are citizens) for renewal about a week and a half ago (March 4th/5th) in London. The website says 10 days processing, the problem is with the new UK to USA travel ban my employer (the reason i'm in the UK, to legally work) might fly us out in a moment's notice...

Is there a way that I can get my passport back? Or expediate the process? Temporary passport? I've tried calling the Embassy but the weekend operators can't offer much. Will be calling first thing this morning, but it's keeping me up and wondering what others think...

I've read/heard that I can possibly get an emergency appointment if I'm travling in the next day? I'd need some sort of proof, letter from my employer?

Thanks all...
