I also highlighted the April 29 postmark on the original mailing envelope (it had been sent back with the returned submission), and the April 29 date on the USPS Delivery Confirmation Receipt.

The submission was returned again for incorrect fee, with a fresh copy of the same notice stating that submissions postmarked April 30 or later required a new fee, and with the evidence that we had submitted showing a highlighted postmark of April 29.

Appealed on more time before giving up and paying the extra money.

I still think it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario, they'll just ask you to pay the new fee.

Yodrak - on a personal note, what they did to you was seriously WRONG. I think I would have

fought them on general principle (or perhaps paid the extra money and demanded a refund later.)

mawilson,

After the 3rd rejection my wife convinced me that getting the green card was more important than the principle involved. Wives have ways of convincing..... And going the next steps to argue the principle would have cost more that the fee differential to be saved.

I understand that at the same time the same problem was being had at the TSC, which unfortunately not my SC. The AILA got involved in that one, as it made the lawyers look bad with the SC sending back their client's applications. I believe that they had better success than I did.

I have all these fees x2. It really sucks.

Yeah, me too times two... *sigh* Guess they (USCIS) figures it's worth it to US to keep the people we love, so we'll pay it. Guess they have to find some way to pay for the program changes they are proposing as well.... which I feel are a slap in the face to all the rest of us who "jumped through all their hoops".... (Sorry Ewok, don't mean to get political...I'll be quiet now  )

Yodrak....call your U.S. Senator...right now. He/she will have someone in the office DEDICATED to ironing out these kind of problems (been there, done that). Congress is the watchdog. No bad reflection on you, either.

N 400 is now going to $675 ####### not fair this really sucks used to be $300 something. We better start saving now lol.

Ouch!
