Help - Original documents at interview?

Hi there,

My husband has his N-400 interview on Tuesday. He has a green card conditional on our marriage (I'm a U.S. citizen), and we are really happy to be in the final stretch of his immigration journey. We have been together for five and a half years, and have plenty of evidence to support our relationship.

Unfortunately I am now in panic mode because I can't find one of the documents we included in his N-400 application, and I'm worried that they will ask him for the original and he won't have it. It's not a minor document, either -- a long time ago when I was young, I was briefly married, so it is my divorce decree. As I said, we sent in a copy with his application, but now (one baby and one move to a new house later) I can't find the original anywhere. It is too late to order a new one from the state where I was married (nowhere near me), since his interview is in 2 days and tomorrow is a holiday.

I am really worried that him not having the original will pose a problem if they ask to see it.

Has anyone ever been in a similar situation, or have any experience with this?

Thank you so much in advance.

I didn't have an original divorce decree on me - I attached it with the application, wasn't asked for the original but I'm not married as of now so that's different.

Did your husband apply under 3 year rule (married to US citizen) or 5 year rule? Under the 5 year rule, the relationship that gave you the green card is not important. Under the 3 year rule, it might be but I wouldn't worry about it if it was under the 5 year rule.
