Folks, so last Saturday I got the letter for n400 interview date and I had to send it back requesting a new date, cannot make the original one due to deteriorating health of my grandma. USPS shows the lette delivered for Monday. What’s the next step, do they send me a confirmation that they got the letter or they will send me a new interview date?

Hi I am a N400 July Filer.

I also had to reschedule my interview and mailed the letter back with reasons today using USPS priority.

Please keep me updated about how your rescheduling goes. Appreciate it!

And good luck to both of us!

Hey THG,

I called them Wednesday and Thursday, the first agent on Wednesday wasn’t helpful at all, the lady on Thursday was able to read me my letter that was sent back along with appointment letter. Please call them to confirm they got it. She also did send a request to my local office to respond to my request, she noted I should have a reply in 5-10 business days.

Thank you for letting me know. I got some questions:

1. Did you send the letter with your reasons back to your local office?

2. Which number do you call? How long after you send the letter back did you call?

Thank you again. Please keep me posted. I am pretty worried about this rescheduling.

You will get a letter confirming that they accepted your request to reschedule and then another one when they have rescheduled your interview. In my case, I received the acknowledgement letter AFTER the date of my original interview which sounds absurd but whatever.

That sounds scary... Cuz my original interview is 09/19 and I will be out of the country on 09/15...

Did you send the letter back to local office or the national office?

LOL mayar...

just checked my DHS account and they have sent me a de schedule letter......

That's good good news! Did you check if you have the letter in your document tab on DHS account?

Could you share your timeline specifically?

That was the exact same case with me. My interview was 2 days after I was out of the country on a trip I could not cancel so I just had to go with it. Thankfully, it all worked out. As long as you have confirmation that your request to reschedule was delivered to them, I believe you should be ok.

Just confirmation from my USPS tracking which you already said you have. I called them to ask if they could confirm but the agent said she could not as the letter was delivered to the local office and she could not check with them. If the USCIS office is close to you, maybe you can make an infopass appointment to go check with them and relieve your stress. In my case, I could not as my process moved extremely fast and I live in Austin while the USCIS center is in San Antonio. I got letter for an interview one week before they scheduled it!

How far apart is your new interview from your old interview?

Hi Metsteph,

I think in your case the operator on the phone will be helpful because you sent your letter to the national.

If we sent to the local office, the phone operator probably cannot get information unless the local officer has made updates in the system.

Congrats on getting the reschedule notice! Hopefully I can get it before I leave on the trip.
