Background:  my fiancé and I have both been dating for over 4 years.  She’s Portuguese but has spent a majority part of her life in Germany. She works is the medical field I work in let’s just call it law/legal stuff. Pretty straight forward. We see each other every 4-6 months it’s tough but we make it work.

The mistake:  not sure if it’s a big deal but we applied in March and don’t feel like having any issues.  We’re both ready to start our lives together and wish we did it sooner.

On section 62a and 62b of the I-129 form we put Düsseldorf as the location. Turns out they don’t do visas and Frankfort is the actual place (I think).  After reading the instructions below I think it’s just a preference and they will assign it. Should I try to fix it? If so how?

Item Numbers 62.a. - 62.b. U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate Requested. Provide the city or town and country of the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate where your beneficiary will apply for his or her visa.

NOTE: Designation of a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate outside the country in which your beneficiary resides does not guarantee acceptance for processing by that foreign post. Acceptance is at the discretion of the designated U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate.

Thank you all for your assistance. I read the forums daily never ever thought I’d actually be posting I thought I did everything perfect turns out. I made a tiny mistake 😯

I had a similar situation with my Fiance. She lives in Toronto, Canada and I requested her K1 interview to be taken place at the Toronto US consulate. However, later (when our I-129F package was sent) we found out Montreal is the only US consulate in Canada that processes such visas. So I sent an e-mail to the Toronto consulate explaining the situation and within 24 hours I have gotten a response saying, NVC/Department of state will automatically route the  K1-package to the  appropriate consulate in Canada. So I suggest you (as the petitioner) send an e-mail to the Dusseldorf Non-Immigrant visa unit and explain them the situation and hopefully they will answer and when they do, keep that for your records. Good luck.
