My mother has an immigration case that is scheduled for an IR5 Visa interview soon.
We are aware that we ought to bring to the interview all the original civil documents of which photocopies were previously submitted by the petitioner, my brother, to the NVC
The petitioner has submitted a photocopy of his original American birth certificate, our inquiry: should we bring his original American Birth Certificate knowing that he has it in his custody in the USA now or will a photocopy of it will be enough? The petitioner also has a second nationality.
We do have his original second birth certificate that mentions the US as his birth place, can we bring it along with a photocopy of the American one?
The interview checklist of the embassy doesn't mention anything about the petitioner civil documents but I am kind of worried that it will be considered a missing document. What do you think ?

If its not listed as required on the interview document check list, then it isnt needed.. but, it wont hurt to take it.

At the first desk for the interview, the consulate agent will sort through the documents your Mom is carrying, and separate out any that are not needed. These wil be returned to her immediately, and the selected necessary documents placed in a folder for her to carry into the interview room

It is kind of vague actually, the National Visa Center website displays in the 5th step under petitioner's documents that the petitioner, if sponsoring an IR5, must submit a photocopy of his birth and that the original should be available in the interview

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-5-collect-supporting-documents.html

however, the checklists attached for The American Embassy in Cairo (the one the consulate agent uses) and even the general one available on the NVC website interview part, have no mention for it at all.

Getting the original one at the moment is difficult, knowing that the petitioner is quite busy

We certainly took all originals for which copies were sent to the NVC

Better to be safe than sorry ... IMO make it a priority to get it in hand
