Hey folks,

So I'm at NVC stage with my IR-1 visa. Petition approved, application and supporting materials sent off. But now:

"We cannot accept the birth certificate document you sent us. You must send a photocopy of the correct document, issued by the appropriate authority in your country of birth, so we can continue to process your case."

No other info. It just says "does not fulfill the necessary requirements" and "please submit a long form birth certificate". Which is exactly what I sent. It's the only kind you can get in the UK, from the Records Office, and it contains your parents' details. My wife called them up and they had no idea either (what is the point of them? how can they give an RFE and then not know why they made a request? Are there no notes kept on anything?). They just suggested that maybe it was "out of date", which is something I've never heard of with a birth certificate, and googling around it doesn't seem to be a thing.

What I sent them was a (photocopy of, as requested) the certified copy from the GRO back in 2001. Doesn't say anything on there about expiration, and it doesn't say anything on the US Embassy's website either, or on the original request for documents. All very irritating.

Anyway, that was a week ago we got that RFE. I received the new copy today. It's *exactly the same document*, the only thing different is the date printed at the bottom. But hopefully whatever jobsworth put in the RFE will now be satisfied.

My question is this though: has any one else experienced this or heard of this? And do you have any idea what else the issue might be?
