Hi all,

I filed my I-751 (petition to remove conditions from marriage-based green card) in June 2017.

I got the receipt letter and did my biometrics the following month.

They sent me a letter saying my green card had been extended for a further year (till August 2018). I used this letter to renew my drivers license for a further year (California DMV will only give me as long as my green card does).

I can now see that this I-751 malarkey is going to take longer than the year they gave me.

My question is: how do I renew my Drivers Licence while waiting for my new green card?

How do I stay legal, in general?

My husband and I have a baby now so going back to England while I wait is not an option.

What did you all do?

Got no answers here so I called the USCIS and Felicia told me I can go to my field office and ask for a stamp on my passport. It’ll prove I’m still in good standing for a few more months (she couldn’t see how many, but guessed it might be 6)
